I’m not sure I agree that Reich had lost the team. We’ve seen similar slow starts in other years followed by some pretty good play. I think it’s mostly the result of the QB carousel and Ballard’s constant reliance on bargain vets and rookies to fill obvious holes. I can understand the argument that a coach has a shelf life with a team before the team isn’t as inspired by them, but if you felt that was the case then you fire him at the end of the season. You don’t turn the franchise into a fucking circus and piss off your potential high level coaching candidates by meddling with who starts, and then hiring a HC and OC with zero experience. Even if you think Reich should have been fired, they fucked up the how and the when.

The worst part is, I expect Saturday to be the coach next season. Not because he’s shown anything to earn the job, but because Irsay has painted himself into a corner and will “need” to prove everyone wrong.

It doesn’t make sense. Unless you think the owner intentionally sabotaged the offense and hence the season to get a young QB of the future.

There was enough of a hurry up and shit the bed feeling to what we saw yesterday that I am inclined to think there's something to be said about the above.

Yesterday was insane, but in the end, the best thing that could have happened for the franchise yesterday, happened.

I wasn’t in on the game thread but did anyone notice the officials discuss a penalty with Ventrone and not Saturday? Who’s really the coach?

Yeah, I personally will be much more interested in watching a new fresh QB navigating the team than all these re-treads who you already sort of know the book on. It at least brings some energy that is severely lacking at present.

Reich never established a winning culture here. Never. If he had we wouldn't have continually started the seasons he coached like we did. I am glad he is gone. I am just riding out this year, a year that went down the tubes with Reich as our head coach. I am actually really glad we lost this game. A win and we are drafting 15th, the loss and we are at 7. There is so much wrong with this team that it is a fools errand to try to point out any one thing as the culprit. We are a shit team this year but this being the NFL next year who knows?

I was a Frank fan, until I had to not be one. When the team stunk up the joint at the end of last year, I thought it was Wentz. However, it became obvious that Frank was the issue.

That jumped out to me. Highest scoring game of the season and your offense produced a single touchdown. Also, we had eight drives in the 2nd half because MIN kept scoring obviously. I want to say the average is like 12 per game. The number of plays on those drives were 4, 6, 3, 4, 3, 4, 5, and 3.

Not to excuse the defense, which was getting absolutely torched in the 2nd half... but our offense has consistently failed to compliment them. Yesterday was a whirlwind. They'd gash us down the field for a TD and you're like, ok what the fuck? Get to the sideline, regroup, figure some things out, grab a Gatora... DEFENSE! Back on the field!

Ultimately, the intention doesn't matter. Tanking for a high draft pick, keeping fans in the stands, thinking he knows better than the coach... whatever the reason is... fucking with the on-field decisions took us down a much worse path.

And potential future prospects for FO, coaches, and players are going to be influenced by that.

It’s also a lesson for this last generation of fans who have been spoiled by mostly two decades of success. Every high schooler and college kid who has been screaming to fire everyone. Yeah that doesn’t fix things. It has the opposite effect.
