Here's the PFF blurb (if you hate PFF, by all means drive thru, no need to stay and bitch):

Quote:
5. John Simon, Edge
Another player that has earned himself a starting role in limited play, Simon could be a more attractive option to teams given the relative dearth of proven pass-rushing talent that is scheduled to hit the open market. Simon was a significant part of Houston’s formidable defensive front last season but injury cost him the majority of the second half of his season. Over the first half of the year only the New England Patriots were able to blank him from a pass-rushing standpoint, and he had three games in which he recorded at least one sack, hit and hurry. Simon has been an impressive situational rusher for the past few seasons, but may have earned himself a shot to start for somebody in 2017.

Also, arguably, possibly the best pass rusher we've acquired in 5 years.

Don't like the part where he missed time due to injury. Too much of that isht gets us every year.

He is.

He is not that effective, IMO.

Cheers.

While Hightower is the prize, I would be great with Zach Brown, Gerald Hodges, or Kevin Minter.

Or Lawrence Timmons. No one is talking about him at all. Seems like a perfect under the radar type of pickup.

DeAndre Levy is another name that just hit the market that might fit that bill, though he's not the caliber of Timmons.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports there is a "very good chance" free agent NT Dontari Poe signs a one-year, prove-it deal.
