Default Thoughts on Tony Dungy?

I've seen some articles talking about how Dungy could emerge as a potential GM candidate. Was curious about the board's thoughts on that potential move?

I don't think it's super real but not outside the realm of possibilities.

Me, I'm not a huge fan of the idea. No question he had a couple very serious runs here and IMO, even better in Tampa. However, I felt like he was in many respects the reason we only got 1 (should have had 2- FU HANK!). I always felt he was one of these guys that had a very specific prototype and was never willing to deviate. I felt like he wanted everything to be focused on speed on D and it cost us over and over as we played the bigger physical bully type of teams that could run over us, consume clock, and keep Manning on the sideline (Cheats over and over and over). So my concern would be basically a repeat of Ballard- passing up really good football players because they didn't perfectly fit in his model.

I think he could be a great voice in the room in choosing the next GM / Pres, just don't think it should be him.

I wouldn’t be opposed to the idea. He was unquestionably a GREAT coach and I’m sure a lot of the qualities that made him one would overlap in a GM role.

I find it very hard to believe that he’d have any interest whatsoever though.

I doubt Dungy would be interested in being a day-to-day NFL GM. He is 71.

The majority of non-owner NFL GM's (so excluding Jerry Jones, etc) are either in their 40's or 50's...with a few outliers in the 30's and 60's.

If he is being considered for a Front Office role, I think it would have to be as President and have him focus on the big picture and bring in someone else to take care all of the GM transactions.

Coach and GM are different jobs, plus Dungy is 71. Bad idea.

I remember seeing Dungy's name as the quarterback on the roster of the University of Minnesota in the "CLOSE-UP" grid, when they played Ohio State in the Fall of 1976 ...... l TV GUIDE l used to have the rosters for major games (college and pro) inserted into the television listings.

Gruden won a title the year after Dungy left(basically Dungys team) and hasn’t won jack shit since.

Possibly the most overrated coach of all time.

No thanks.

He's as logical of an option as Peyton Manning or Tony Dungy.
