I’m not sure why he’s not capable of it now but that points more towards a coaching or system issue than a Ballard issue. Because if he can do it at Georgia, it stands to reason that he should be able to do it in Indy. |

We complain, legitimately enough, that Safeties are ill suited to serve as play callers, and it’s tempting to say that we should have picked up on it during the course of the summer. But, where was the opportunity? You can’t expect a second or third teamer to be familiar enough with Anarumo’s system to call defensive plays, so you don’t even try in camp. That means that the first game of the season becomes a de facto full dress rehearsal, the first chance to see that the second act needs work. |

Not buying into the lack of playing time scenario. Most teams sit their starters most of preseason and manage to play well. Lamar didn't play at all and only 5 starters got significant playing time on the Ravens pre season (according to google) and they kicked our ass. Lamar hasn't taken a preseason snap since 2021 and they average 2 starters playing a game in preseason.

The team we saw Sunday, that shit pile isn't winning more than 4 games. If this team comes out and gets crushed by KC on a national stage, they are going to fold and it's bottoms up from there.

Couldn't agree more. I just don't believe our issue is that we don't play our starters in pre season. The issue is our starters, coaching and front office all suck at this point in time.

I'm more inclined to think it's his physical play. I didn't like his tape, personally. I felt Boettcher's was better.
I've been wrong before and I'm sure I'll be wrong again, but I'm not surprised if he's just physically not ready for it yet and the team can't say that out loud because the optics. |

Any time you make the kind of wholesale changes in personnel the Colts did on Defense, 7 different starters than the squad that played Houston in last season’s finale, you’re going to have glitches. A key to the season is going to lay in how quickly, or if, Lou Anarumo can chisel this particular block of granite into something that can go out and compete with the likes of Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes.
