Henry averaged 6 yards a carry on 24 carries. With a long of 32 yards, which means he didn’t have a 75 yard run inflating his average. They ran the ball at will against us.

That’s just embarrassing.

I’m willing to entertain the possibility that this had more to do with no one knowing anything about Doyle and his tendencies. That’s at least a possibility.

Next Sunday against KC will tell us a lot.

I thought they were bottling him up well at first. Lots of short runs. He wasn't the reason they were in a position to score at first. But the leaks in the passing game made the safeties and LBS keep dropping back more. If you can't run an eight-man front against him you are in trouble. I also think everything went wrong at the beginning and things snowballed.

They just did whatever they wanted, whenever they wanted to do it. I kept saying it last year and I think it is just going to be a repeat of the same, Lou Anarumo was leading one of the very worst defenses in football for several years in Cincy. Everyone was complaining that he was ruining the career of Burrow because the defense was historically bad. Somehow, some way, we think he is going to be good here- based on what exactly? He sucks!

Funny, I’m not the one claiming opinions matter more than results. You are. Your defense of the longest tenured losing GM without major playoff success is that Polian likes him. That’s it. And based on that you question my knowledge and ability to have an opinion on the job Ballard has done.

With all of your superior football knowledge I would have expected you to know that Ballard signed Hankins, not Grigson. Maybe Polian hasn’t told you yet.

Eberflus' system wanted zone corners and you don't have to spend a lot of money on zone corners unlike man corners. Hence we just moved to man and we are spending a lot of money on man corners now. Different coaches and systems place differing importance on position groups.
Damn thank you for letting me know that different coaches run different schemes that require different player skill sets. I was completely unaware. The only issues is it has fuck all to do with my comment. When Ballard was questioned during that time (there were other vets cut) about going so young is when he played out his philosophy. That’s what I was pointing you to because you claimed I made it up. Never mind it has also been plainly obvious based on his roster construction. But again, thank you for letting me know about different skills for different schemes. My mind is literally blown.

They are not a unicorn that gets to ignore the standard practices the rest of the league also follows.
Since it’s such a common practice, please give me a few examples of 4-3 teams with playoff aspirations going into a season with no DE on the roster with double digit sacks for their entire career. Not having a double digit season. We are talking cumulative for their career. Oh I’m sure it’s happened a few times I’m just not aware of it being such a standard practice as you claim it to be. And how did those seasons turn out?

No, what I’m saying is that no one is always right. By your definition Polian could never make a bad decision or call. He’s never made a bad draft pick or hiring. He can’t because just the fact he believes someone good makes them good - regardless of their actual performance.

Well, maybe two teams, since the Hoosiers miraculously won a championship.
So somehow you think anyone that doesn’t accept Ballard as a good GM is an ignorant and their opinion drivel. That’s interesting when the god damn facts show that anyone with his resume in an actual football knowledgeable city would have been fired. That’s fucking provable fact. So you can fuck off with your high and mighty bullshit.

Damn Chrome I’m very confused. How could you have an opinion on McDaniels that differed from NFL execs? Do you think you know more than them? You’ve repeatedly now told me how it’s impossible to have an opinion different than someone established in the NFL. Does that not apply to you? Only anyone with an opinion different than you I guess.

You are an example of whats wrong with the internet, giving voice to the uninformed and everyone thinks they are an expert. I bet you walk into the hospital and tell doctors how to perform a surgery. You've yet to prove your opinion should be valued at all.
So now back to my question, did Ballard lead the hiring process and recommend (effectively hire) the coaches whose decisions you are shielding him from? The exception of course being Saturday. And you are right I’m very lacking in roster knowledge, but I’m pretty sure a coach can’t start a player not on the roster. Or am I wrong about that? Please let me know. It’s all very confusing I’m so happy to have you to explain it to me.

See if I hadn’t been saying it it would all be hindsight and piling on. That I’ve said it and been right means you get to claim I think I know everything. There is no winning. You are on a message board for opinions and discussion claiming there is no right opinion but yours and Polians when we have actual fucking results and NFL history to say how wrong you are. Everyone with Ballard’s actual job and resume has been fired. But somehow you are smarter than every other team. It’s you, the Colts, and Polian that are the genius’. Not the actual teams that have had more success in the same time period.

Paye had 2 sacks yesterday for the Raiders. Oof.

Granted, he never had Crosby on the other side in Indy but still……oof.

Crosby drawing attention will obviously help him, but the Dolphins are likely a very bad team. And Willis is known for holding the ball and taking unnecessary sacks. Raiders had 5. I wouldn’t think much about it yet. Will be interesting to track though
