Indy seems to be a great place for a player/coach/general manager to collect a check. Not a great place if you're looking for on field success. The organization just doesn't seem to have a winning culture. For this simple minded man I don't claim to have an easy solution but as an observer of the game for 50+ years I can tell you what obviously doesn't work and I'm sure it's quite evident to most of you that the Irsays can't see the obvious or just don't really care as long as they are making a profit and can say "I own an NFL team."

It wasn't Irsay, it wasn't Dungy, it wasn't Polian. It was Manning himself, he was the de facto entire organization. It was PM's way or the eventual highway.

Luck, although a lot nicer about it and more political was much the same, as was Rivers. There is not one leader of men on this entire team.

What identity does the current version of the Colts have? Nothing, because they stand for nothing and are nothing in the eyes of the NFL. Only transcendent players can change that.

Maybe there is a transcendent coach out there that can, but I can't name him.
