The 49ers had a pick-6 that was nullified by a roughing the passer call. The announcer said, "It was the way he finished it when he tackled the quarterback."

Really ??? The way he "finished" it ??? That's what everybody is taught in football, on both sides of the ball, to FINISH the play ...... on offense you keep trying to advance the ball after contact, and on defense your wrap the player up AND bring him to the ground to make sure that he is down. Make HARD tackles, right ???


The offensive player can put his head down, fight like crazy for more yardage, fake going out of bounds and then tightrope the sideline for extra yardage ...... but the defensive player is supposed to GENTLY bring the quarterback to the ground, and not "drive him into the turf."

Hey fuckfaces, tackle football is an inherently violent game. You're not going to change that, no matter how much you penalize and emasculate the defensive players......what you will do (and what you HAVE done) is drive all of the offensive statistics through the roof (particularly the passing statistics) so that even the average quarterbacks of today have video game-like statistics that dwarf those of the great quarterbacks of the past.

I think that's somehow even more infuriating than the bullshit calls themselves. The way these fucking announcers pretend to justify it and be good little company men.

Even the minority of announcers that will call it out... 9 out of 10 times they'll give a passive "ehhh, I don't know about that one."

The call was absolutely ricockulous. I get that you don't want defensive players lifting up QBs and slamming them on the turf, but that's not what happened on the play at all. It was about as clean of a tackle as you can get. It's like the refs though Bosa should have stopped in mid air and placed some pillows on the ground under Smith before finishing the tackle.
