Considering the Colts' incredible 8-2 start to the season, I'm not especially concerned about the head-on games within the division ...... if the Colts win at least 4 more of their remaining games, it doesn't really matter if they come against their AFC South foes or not ...... there is virtually no way that any team within the AFC South will catch the Colts if the Colts finish with a record of at least 12-5 or better. If the Colts finish the season with a record of 12-5, the Jaguars would have to win 7 out of their 8 remaining games to usurp them for the division title, and that would include having to beat the Colts twice in head-on matchups. This is a rare season in which the Colts (and their fans) fans have the luxury of not getting overly concerned about who their wins come against, as long as those wins come ...... and that is because of their 8-2 start, coupled with the fact that the closest team to them within the division is already 2 and-a-half games behind them. I agree with your assertion that in order to be the best, you have to beat the best ....... and that will all come out in the post-season wash. The Colts' regular-season game against the Chiefs in Kansas City is not nearly as important as their games (and their opponents) in the first 2 rounds of the playoffs. Because of the fact that the Colts have had half-assed starts to their seasons in the W-L column almost every year since Andrew Luck's retirement, Colts fans were desperately rooting for the team to win each and every game to make up ground for the hole that they put themselves in early, while simultaneously giving frequent glances at the scoreboard to see how other AFC teams were doing, and worrying about tie-breakers, sneaking into the playoffs with the 7th and final seed, etc ....... now we can just relax and watch other teams (and their fans) go bonkers about how the hell they are going to catch the Colts. This 8-2 start is even more luxurious than the solid, 11-5 Philip Rivers season that we had in 2020. We haven't seen the likes of this kind of penthouse football mentality since Peyton Manning's prime. o

(PATRIOTS vs. JETS) ) [November 13th] The Patriots are not in the AFC South, but they are in the AFC. The Jets are 2-7, but I think that they are better than their record indicates ...... they lost by 2 points to the Broncos, the Buccaneers, and the Steelers. I think that they are capable of springing an upset tonight, but I wouldn't bet on it. o

I hope tonight is not a blowout. I really thought the bucs were going to pull it off last week. Even if we didn't need the patriots to lose I hope they do anyway.
Last weeks game was weird... I'm sure it smelled like Tom Brady everywhere.

I'm fine with a blowout, as long as the Jets win. o

(TEXANS vs. BILLS) ) [November 20th] If the Texans beat the Bills, it will be Buffalo's 4th loss of the season. If the Texans beat the Bills and the Colts fail to hold off the Texans for the AFC South division title, then the Colts will have nobody to blame but themselves ...... the Colts are 8-2, and they control their own division title destiny with a rather significant cushion. Teams that are 8-2 shouldn't need outside help to hold off a team within their division that started the season at 3-5, as the Texans did before barley getting by the Jaguars and the Titans. o

Josh Allen had not thrown a pick-6 since September of 2019 season, against the Jets ...... he just threw one late in the 2nd quarter, but the TD was nullified by an idiotic clip by one the Texans players on the run-back ...... subsequently, the Texans had to settle for a field goal instead of a touchdown. o

The Colts have not lost 2 consecutive games so far this season. Sometimes avoiding losing streaks are just as important as extended winning streaks ...... so far this season, the Colts have done both. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are always dangerous. The Texans have the #1 defense in the NFL ...... so the Colts have their work cut out for them in their next 2 games. o
