Obviously it is very early in their careers to be making comparisons since sometimes it takes WR's a little longer to develop, but if you look at Pierce's production from his rookie year vs the next 10 WR's drafted, it appears the Colts made a decent choice.

Once D Coordinators got some film on him and realized his route running limitations he pretty much disappeared. 197 yards for the final 8 games of the season, and 86 of those were in the blowout loss to Dallas. I know it's just preseason, but it doesn't look like he's improved at all. Straight down the sideline, no separation, and dropped passes. He was playing against 2nd and 3rd stringers in Philly, and he still couldn't get any separation.

Oh, I know that he has his limitations and probably doesn't have much upside / potential left to unlock. Just pointing out that there were no WR's drafted immediately after him that have really stood out either.

I’d pump the brakes a little. He hasn’t even played a down of his second season. And also you can’t forget the context of they fired the O coordinator and head coach. The system took a nosedive in creativity. A nobody was calling plays and Saturday was the head coach. He’s actually had some good buzz this training camp.

That's fair. He has looked like shit in the preseason games though. Hopefully it doesn't mean anything when the actual games start.

I think mainly he’s played the deep threat and they’re trying to connect with him and everyone knows it’s coming. Low percentage passes. Wr is one of the toughest positions to learn and play in the nfl. Gotta be patient with most guys.

Not just the drops. He's not getting any separation at all either. Even against 2nd and 3rd stringers in the Philly game.

Steadily improved, didn't have his breakout until year-4. Give the kid time. Whether he's a bust or a gem, he's not going to show you right away.

meh, we also had shit QB play and shit pass protection, so the entire passing offense was crap, I wouldn't get too dramatic about Pierce's numbers being about his own limitations.
