Granted that the hire of Jeff Saturday came out of left field, and that there were other coaches who seemed to be more obvious choices. But…
You weren’t going to do someone like Ventrone any favor by making him the sacrificial interim head coach. Let him coach out the season, then interview him without the shadow of a 1-8 stint as interim coach hanging over him.
