16.6 PFF grade for Dalton Tucker?
How is that possible? You could set up a chair between Bortolini and Smith, and Barcalounger would have graded out better than 16.6. Admittedly, that’s only his pass blocking grade. His grade for run blocking was 57’something, which is a nice number for a steak sauce, but doesn’t land him in the top 60 Guards who pulled up a helmet and ran out onto the field, yesterday.
Think about it. This is a guy whose run blocking skills were an embarrassment and whose pass blocking ability could only hope to rise to that level. Surely, somewhere out there, there’s a big rawboned kid flipping burgers at McDonalds who brings more to the table than Tucker. Chris Ballard should go out right now and order a Big Mac, fries and a supersized burger flipper.
I’ll admit that I’m probably being too tough on him. He’s an undrafted free agent, a project who probably needs a couple of years to develop. I’m all for cutting him some slack, but he ought to be learning from the best seat in the house…the bench…a ground level seat at the 50 yard line.
