Default Jaguars

Jacksonville - our next opponent - made quite a few headlines today

- fired their Offensive Coordinator Nathaniel Hackett. Their QB coach will take over the play-calling responsibilities

- benched Blake Bortles and will start Cody Kessler at QB

- sent another OL to the IR - Andrew Norwell

Their season thus far has been a dumpster fire - hopefully, they don't have a "bounce back" game from these changes.

I could see the offense having a small spurt of effectiveness just because Kessler and the new OC are a new pair, no tape on what they might to. But I doubt it'll last long.

They should have used cut Bottles last year and used that money saved and used the money they gave Norwell to get a QB

Would they be appreciably better with Cousins?

Than Bortles? Yes. Even Alex Smith would have been better on that team than Bortles IMO.

(7 YEARS LATER)

Lo and behold, Andrew Luck and the Colts lost that game to the Jaguars in northeastern Florida by a score of 6-0.

Not only that, but the Colts went 9-1 over their last 10 games of that 2018 season ...... and guess who that 1 loss came to ??? The Jaguars, on their homefield.

The Jaguars were 3-8 heading into that game, while the Colts were riding a 5-game winning streak ...... the Colts, who were hot as a pistol with a QB who was likely on his way to being an all-time great before injuries curtailed his career, couldn't manage to put a point on the board.

So, where are we 7 years later ??? It's only fitting ...... we're in the city of Jacksonville, Fla, and the stakes for the game couldn't be any higher. The Colts, who stormed out to an 8-2 start to the season, lost their last 2 games with their otherwise mobile QB hobbling on a broken leg. Subsequently, they are in a dead heat with the Jaguars with a record of 8-4 atop the AFC South division.

3 months ago, the Colts finally got off of the schneid by winning their Opening Day game after having gone 0-10-1 over the previous 11 seasons in said games ...... can our beloved Colts, with their hobbled quarterback taking the snaps behind the center, wipe away another dark cloud that has been hanging over their heads since they last won there in 2014 ??? Stay tuned, because it certainly will be interesting.

I think the Jags are frauds, but it seems we might be, too. Need to whip them to prove otherwise.

Frauds or not, we NEVER win in Jacksonville.

In 2020 they went 1-15, with their only win coming against the colts in Jacksonville in the season opener.

We simply do not win there.

I give us maybe a 10 percent chance to win one of the next two.

Odds are in 2 weeks we’ll be 8-6 and completely out of the playoffs.

There’s no way of understating how much losing that game at home to the Texans hurt.

We broke the season opening loss streak, why can't we beat this streak as well?
