Daniel Jones…I’ll start out with the most marginal first, and I’ll admit that Jones is the longest of long shots, but…. There is a scenario under which he makes it. The first thing that has to happen is that he stays healthy. If he’s only on the field for 12 or 13 games a year, Canton is out of reach. On the other hand, he seems like the kind of player who sticks atound for another 10 or 12 seasons, and that gives him a chance to pad his raw numbers. The most important element, though, is that he absolutely needs to string together at least 2 Super Bowl wins. Combine that with 45,000 plus passing yards, and he might just make it.
Jonathan Taylor…if he stays healthy and maintains his current pace, there’s little reason to think that he won’t get into the hall. Right now, he has 7,598 yards over 6 seasons. If he averages 1400 yards per season over the next 3 years, he’ll be closing in on 13,000. That would make him 10th in rushing in NFL history. A couple of decent years in the twilight of his career could push him into the top 5. If anything stands in the way, it’s a general feeling that he’s one dimensional, great at carrying the ball, but not such a great receiver or blocker. Quenton Nelson…Comes as close as anyone on the roster to be a shoo in, first ballot candidate. He’s a 3 time all pro and gone to the pro bowl every year in his career. If he’s hurt by anything, it’s the fact that the hall tends to favor Offensive Tackles. Deforest Buckner…while I’d put him in in a heartbeat, I doubt that enough hall of fame voters will agree. The one all pro and three pro bowl appearances probably won’t be enough of a resume to get him a gold jacket. It’s too bad because this is a man who makes everyone around him look better. Sauce Gardner…four years in the league and, in three of those, he’s made someone’s All Pro team. Barring injury, there’s no reason to think that he won’t make it. |

As of right now JT and Q are locks if they continue on their current trajectory.
