Default One Additional Thought On the Rams Game

o

In addition to the 14 points that the bone-headed Adonai Mitchell gave away in yesterday's contest against the Rams, I think that there was another crucial point in the game in which the Colts failed to get themselves 4 additional points to what they actually had ....... early in the 4th quarter, the Colts scored the go-ahead TD to put themselves up by a score of 17-13. Shortly after that, the Colts' defense forced a Rams fumble deep in their own territory. At that point ALL OF THE MOMENTUM was with the Colts, and the Rams seemed to be like a boxer who was ready to be KO'd in the 11th round of a 12-round title fight. I thought for sure that the Colts would put the ball in the end-zone and take a 24-13 lead ....... but that is not what happened. The Colts' offense had a 10-yard offensive pass interference call, Jonathan Taylor was stuffed for no gain, and Daniel Jones completed a 1-yard pass to Michale Pittman ...... suddenly it was 3rd-and-19, and it was clear that the Colts had likely blown their chance to punch the ball into the end-zone which may have put the game away. They conservatively had Taylor run for 6 yards to give Spencer Shrader a chip-shot FG to increase the Colts' lead to 20-13, instead of 24-13.

Now, because of the cause-and-effect principle, we will never know what would have happened had the Colts' offense succeeded in scoring a TD with that golden opportunity that was given to them by the Colts' defense ...... the play calls for both teams would not have been the same as what they actually were ...... but I suspect that if the Colts' offense had managed to score 7 points instead of 3 on that possession, the team likely would have found a way to win the game had they had a 24-13 lead at that point in the 4th quarter instead of the 20-13 lead that they actually had.

To me, it seemed like it took a lot of crap befalling the Colts for the Rams to be within, even, two touchdowns at the end.

We had the same red zone woes last year. When and how can Steichen fix this?

Also, how can Tyler Warren not have receiving TD?
