No, that is actually very smart in terms of seeing the forest for the trees/the big picture.
$500,000 isn't going to break Irsay and/or make a significant difference in his overall finances, and it would be excellent for publicity and/or of showing good faith and appreciation for an extremely clutch and beloved Colts player that will undoubtedly join Jan Stenerud and Morten Anderson as the only pure kickers to make it to the Pro Football Hall of Fame 6 after he retires.
