The main reasons his tenure was so highly regarded include:
• Quarterback Development: He was instrumental in transforming Jalen Hurts from an unproven second-year quarterback into an MVP runner-up and Pro Bowler.
• Elite 2022 Offense: In 2022, Steichen took over primary play-calling duties. He engineered an offense that ranked 3rd in the NFL in scoring (28.1 points per game) and 3rd in total yards (389.1 per game), setting several franchise records.
• Historic Rushing Attack: Over his two seasons (2021–2022), Philadelphia ranked 1st in the NFL in rushing yards per game (153.6), total rushing yards (5,224), and rushing touchdowns (57).
• Super Bowl Performance: Even though the Eagles lost Super Bowl LVII, Steichen's offense executed beautifully on the biggest stage, putting up 35 points and 427 total yards against the Kansas City Chiefs.

You make excellent points, but at least lately, I have not been impressed with his play calling. It's not just poor execution by the players, I see very little imagination, and we have all commented on the brain dead runs up the middle when our opponent is stacking the box. Our redzone offense has been a joke this season. I can't see how the well deserved firing of Ballard, as great for this organization as that is, is going to make Shane a better head coach.
