The latest contract extension at the guard position could impact Quenton Nelson and the Indianapolis Colts.
On Friday, the Tennessee Titans signed guard Peter Skoronski to a 4-year, $100 Million contract extension, according to Ian Rapoport. This deal includes $88Miillion in guaranteed money.
At $25 Million per-year in new money, Skoronski is now the NFL's highest-paid guard by average annual value, surpassing Tyler Smith and Matthew Bergeron, who are each earning $24 Million per-year.
What does Peter Skoronski's deal potentially mean for Quenton Nelson ???
Nelson is entering the final year of his current contract with the Colts. He is a prime contract extension candidate, but if he hits the open market in 2027, he will be highly sought after.
ESPN's Bill Barnwell believes that Nelson's next deal could make him the highest-paid guard in the NFL. If that ends up being the case, then Nelson's asking price may have just gone up.
However, as of last week, Nelson said that he and the Colts "haven’t had any discussions," according to
The Athletic's James Boyd.
Among all guards this season, Nelson ranked 4rth in Pro Football Focus' pass-blocking efficiency, and 4th in run-blocking grade ...... he is an 8-time Pro Bowler, and has made 6 All-Pro teams in his career.
