Teams that are 8-2 shouldn't need outside help to hold off a team within their division that started the season at 3-5, as the Texans did before barley getting by the Jaguars and the Titans.

I’m not sure I agree with this, for a variety of reasons.

The first priority is always to win the division and a Texans loss would help more in that regard.

Buffalo is only one game ahead of Houston in the standings and would pose no threat to us until the playoffs. If the Texans win tonight, they’d only be two games back in the win column, with two games left against us.

Houston is a far bigger threat to us in terms of making the playoffs than Buffalo is.

We should definitely be rooting for Buffalo.
