Not sure how you can say it is an upgrade.
Bubba Ventrone was hugely respected, and was interviewed for the HC role, and immediately got another ST coaching position in the NFL. Also had NFL playing experience. He was a very good ST coach for the Colts.
I am not saying Brian Mason is not going to be a great hire, but to say he is an upgrade is not fair in the slightest, when Ventrone has performed at the highest levels of football and Mason hasn't.
