Possibly. On the other hand, the average salary for an NFL player was $450k or so in 1990 (if he averaged that his entire 10 year career, that's like 8.5 million in today's money). Granted, that's a hell of a lot more than I'm making today, but it's not like the typical astronomical salary that players make today, and I have no clue how bad his medical bills have been for him since he retired.

On another note, it was neat looking at some of the names on that list who donated (he's pretty close to getting the $100k). Like Dean Beacussi and Cornelius Bennett (of course I have no clue if it was actually them or not). Also saw Frank Reich on there. Someone anonymously donated $50k...wonder if it was Irsay.
