Start Anthony Richardson now

Start AR.Sick of watching that overpaid (deer in the headlights] Daniel Jones. AR might suck, but it would make it a whole lot more interesting to me. If Jones continues to start, I'm done watching the Colts this year.

This might be Carly laying a trap for SS to step in. Her wording spoke to a process of change that needed to start now. Steichen to me just whiffed on the very first question on the test- are YOU willing to change? I don't think he will, I don't think he can, he seems to be all in on the Dimes train. That's a loser's bet.

Expectation= Dimes struggles against that defense (they've freakin' given up 64 points in 5 games!). Monday morning Shane is sent packing and Dimes is sat down.

Maybe....more than likely she just didn't want to fire them both at the same time, I think Steichen knows he will be replaced as soon as a new GM is named! I don't even think Steichen is a good OC, watch the league prove me wrong and someone snatches him up right away!:D

Steichen can design brilliant plays. He doesn’t seem to be nearly as good at making adjustments, especially in game, when defenses make their adjustments to him. My biggest bitch, and I think they are related, is his inability to be flexible enough in his scheme to get the 11 (he is also half a head coach as the defense seems to be Lou’s) best players on the field, much like Lou. Maybe he has charisma when the cameras are off but when they are on he sure as hell doesn’t. Most likely he’s toast.

I live in Eagles country.

Shane Steichen was exceptionally good in Philadelphia. He is widely considered one of the best offensive coordinators in recent franchise history, and his performance as a play-caller is what directly earned him his head coaching job.

The main reasons his tenure was so highly regarded include:

• Quarterback Development: He was instrumental in transforming Jalen Hurts from an unproven second-year quarterback into an MVP runner-up and Pro Bowler.

• Elite 2022 Offense: In 2022, Steichen took over primary play-calling duties. He engineered an offense that ranked 3rd in the NFL in scoring (28.1 points per game) and 3rd in total yards (389.1 per game), setting several franchise records.

• Historic Rushing Attack: Over his two seasons (2021–2022), Philadelphia ranked 1st in the NFL in rushing yards per game (153.6), total rushing yards (5,224), and rushing touchdowns (57).

• Super Bowl Performance: Even though the Eagles lost Super Bowl LVII, Steichen's offense executed beautifully on the biggest stage, putting up 35 points and 427 total yards against the Kansas City Chiefs.

I may be in the minority here, but I don't want to see Shane fired. I have a minor beef with him still believing in Danny pennies, and hope he gives AR a chance. He truly can't do any worst than Daniel and even if he does, games will be more exciting, at least for me. If AR has not improved, then move on from both of them. There has to be another Brock Purdy somewhere.

You make excellent points, but at least lately, I have not been impressed with his play calling. It's not just poor execution by the players, I see very little imagination, and we have all commented on the brain dead runs up the middle when our opponent is stacking the box. Our redzone offense has been a joke this season. I can't see how the well deserved firing of Ballard, as great for this organization as that is, is going to make Shane a better head coach.

I don't know if you are in the minority or not, but I will be shocked if the new GM doesn't fire him, for no other reason than that he wants his own guys in there.

ChoppedWood 10-20-2026 06:55 PM

My shock will be if he is there for the firing by a new GM. I don't see a scenario where he survives the season. We are going to get cooked in a few of these games. Reading comments on SM in all these Colts posts about the firing of Bullshit Ballard, man the knives are out for Steichen just as much. People are fed the hell up with his same bullshit about cleaning things up, fixing things, etc... He sounds like a damn Pagano clone with that shit, and no one wants to hear that bs. People want to hear "so and so, will no longer be starting, and so and so will be in his place, there are consequences to not doing your job". That's never going to come out of his mouth- and in particular not for his boy Dimes.

I think he was a great offensive coordinator and probably still is, I think the HC seat is way too big for him and he can't do it all. It happens, happens a lot, in all walks of work life, shine like a diamond at your job and suddenly you deserve to have the spot on the next rung, but when you get there you realize there's just too much to it and you can't do it all so you fail at everything. That's what he looks like to me.

Colts have nothing to lose. Playoffs are a pipe dream, start AR and see how the chips fall.
