Christmas came early for the Jags
Santa slid down the chimney at the 50 yard line and began handing out presents.
He gave them an interception at the Colts 21 that led to a TD. A Jonathan Taylor fumble at the Colts 28 that led to another 7 points. A catastrophic injury to Daniel Jones. A rookie QB thrown into his first action. A desperation turnover on downs at midfield that shortened the field with just enough time on the board for the Jags to rack up another 7. A mystery offensive pass interference call in the end zone that turned 7 Colt points into 3. An interception on their own side of the 50. A nice Safety. And a final FG after failed a onsides kick. All that was missing were the six geese a laying and a partridge in a pear tree. |
What difference does it make?
Sure, if all those things didn’t happen, we might have won. But they DID happen. What good does it do dwell on these things? The fact is, this team was collapsing anyway. The Jones injury just softens the sting a bit, as much as it sucks to say that. |

And, the reason you dwell on the details is that they shape the perception of the state of the franchise. If the Colts lose these next few games, the fire everybody and tear it down to the ground brigade will rise from the ground like zombies, rotting flesh and all, determined to eat Chris Ballard’s brains. If Riley Leonard stinks up the joint, we can’t come to the conclusion that it’s time to let Alec Pierce go. We can’t decide that Jonathan Taylor has overstayed his welcome. We’re building a team for the future, a future that, sometime in 2026, will include Daniel Jones. True, 2026 looks gloomy, but if we play our cards right, 2027 will be bright. |
What about the Pittman catch, that they totally blew the call and gave the DB the int? Two things wrong with that, a tie ball(which it indisputably was) goes to the offense Also, Pittman came out of the scrum with the ball.
