We just can't have nice things

After the Manning era......

Wish Luck didn't retire - the front office and coaching was a disaster

Wasted pick on AR - reminds me of drafting Art Schlichter, not alone though in failed QB picks. Scouting failure

This season was promising but we can't have nice things

Oldcolt 12-07-2025 07:09 PM

Art Schlichter? Are you shitting me? AR may not pan out (the book isn't closed on him yet) buy to compare him in any way to that criminal piece of shit is wrong dude. Other thane fact that they were both the fourth pick and a QB they have almost zero in common.

We're not the only team to strike out on a QB draft pick. Jets, 49ers, Cardinals, yada yada. In fact most teams have struck out a time or two. I think the Packers may be one of the few teams that hit the bulls eye 3 straight times.

I think our best bet is to go all in on defense! We already have some nice pieces in place, we need to build a monster that only gives up 14 or less a game, even with Riley or AR we should be able to score 14+ if we sign our WRs and with Warren and JT. Forget chasing QBs it never works for us.....

At least we’re not Raiders or Browns fans.

Or Jests and Cardinals.

What are the chances Shane is a great OC but a crappy head coach?

Brylok 12-07-2025 08:13 PM

From 8-2 to 0-7... in the same season. Who does that? Epic collapse. HUGE problem.

Off of the top of my head, the first thing that comes to mind is the 1993 Miami Dolphins.

Those 1993 Dolphins started the season at 9-2, then went 0-5 down the stretch to finish at 9-7 ...... they only had to win one of those final 5 games to secure a playoff berth, and they failed to.

The nadir of that season for the Dolphins came on Thanksgiving Day, when Leon Lett handed them a win in the final seconds of the 4th quarter over the defending world champion Dallas Cowboys. That win made the Dolphins 9-2 on the season, while the Cowboys dropped to 7-4. After that game the Dolphins lost every game (0-5), and the Cowboys won every game (8-0, including the post-season) to repeat as world champions.

Other similar collapses that immediately come to mind are the 1974 Patriots who started at 5-0 and finished at 7-7, and the 1976 49ers who started at 6-0 and finished at 8-6 ...... strangely enough, Jim Plunkett was the starting quarterback for both of those teams.

Lastly, in Dan Fouts' final season, the 1987 Chargers started at 8-1 and finished at 8-7.

I love your optimism on AR. I wish I had the same optimism, but I am a realist. AR is not good at football. I so wish I was wrong, but sadly I am not.
