Week 10 vs cheats - stats and stuff

Dayo Odeyingbo accounted for a career-high 3 of the Colts’ 5 sacks in a Week 10 win against the Patriots.

Odeyingbo has now recorded multiple pressures in four straight games, and has since doubled his pressure rate (15.3%) compared to Weeks 1-6 (7.1%).

Maybe Ballard finally hit on a drafted DE. Still need more pressure.

The Colts currently have 4 pass rushers projected to finish this season with 6.0+ sacks:

Dayo Odeyingbo: 6.0 (on pace for 10.2)

DeForest Buckner: 5.0 (on pace for 8.5)

Kwity Paye: 4.5 (on pace for 8.0)

Samson Ebukam: 4.0 (on pace for 6.8)

More pressure is always good but I just looked up some stats:

Colts defense is dead last in blitz % at 15% (compared to Vikings in 1st at 45%!)

Despite this, Colts are 11th in sack rate at 7.96% (compared to Browns at 11.28%).

Colts also had the highest sack rate in the past weekend's games, and are ranked 7th in sack rate over the past 3 weeks.

Also tied for 10th in total takeaways.

But when pressure doesn't get home, we're not really hurrying the opposing QBs, because the Colts defense is 25th in Hurry% and 23rd in pressure rate.

So we're somehow scheming a pretty decent sack rate without blitzing, but seemingly contradicting that is a weak pressure rate which likely accounts for the insane passing yards this defense has given up. But really this defense has given up a ton of yards. (worth noting that yards/play stat is more middle of the pack, and we've just ended up with a ton of plays against us, in fact, leading the league in that stat).

In the end, 5th in points against needs improvement.

On a side note, Minshew is the most heavily blitzed QB in the league at like 40%. Gotta be able to make them pay.

Raimann is 1 of 8 Left Tackles leaguewide who has logged 300+ pass-blocking snaps and has a 80+ pass block grade via PFF. He also has the 4th-best run block grade (72.1) among them and has only committed 1 penalty.

Prior to the Cheats game, I lurked through a few other teams message boards and had found a stat that had included the Colts.

On a Vikings forum, they had mentioned:

Before Justin Jefferson strained his hamstring, the Vikings ranked third in rushing success rate, according to TruMedia. In the four weeks since, the Vikings rank 27th. Opposing defenses are applying more numbers in the box to stop the run, and Minnesota hasn’t had an answer. Only the Indianapolis Colts are averaging fewer yards per rush before contact than the Vikings in the past four weeks — which means the blocking is … well, close to nonexistent.

I have searched for this stat a little and found data for all NFL teams averaged for the entire season. If someone can find the info for the last 5 games (including the Cheats game), I would be interested to see it. I assume Minshew has really impacted this stat.
