We just can't have nice things
After the Manning era......
Wish Luck didn't retire - the front office and coaching was a disaster Wasted pick on AR - reminds me of drafting Art Schlichter, not alone though in failed QB picks. Scouting failure This season was promising but we can't have nice things |
Art Schlichter? Are you shitting me? AR may not pan out (the book isn't closed on him yet) buy to compare him in any way to that criminal piece of shit is wrong dude. Other thane fact that they were both the fourth pick and a QB they have almost zero in common.
|
We're not the only team to strike out on a QB draft pick. Jets, 49ers, Cardinals, yada yada. In fact most teams have struck out a time or two. I think the Packers may be one of the few teams that hit the bulls eye 3 straight times.

I think our best bet is to go all in on defense! We already have some nice pieces in place, we need to build a monster that only gives up 14 or less a game, even with Riley or AR we should be able to score 14+ if we sign our WRs and with Warren and JT. Forget chasing QBs it never works for us.....

At least we’re not Raiders or Browns fans.

What are the chances Shane is a great OC but a crappy head coach?

From 8-2 to 0-7... in the same season. Who does that? Epic collapse. HUGE problem.

Off of the top of my head, the first thing that comes to mind is the 1993 Miami Dolphins. Those 1993 Dolphins started the season at 9-2, then went 0-5 down the stretch to finish at 9-7 ...... they only had to win one of those final 5 games to secure a playoff berth, and they failed to. The nadir of that season for the Dolphins came on Thanksgiving Day, when Leon Lett handed them a win in the final seconds of the 4th quarter over the defending world champion Dallas Cowboys. That win made the Dolphins 9-2 on the season, while the Cowboys dropped to 7-4. After that game the Dolphins lost every game (0-5), and the Cowboys won every game (8-0, including the post-season) to repeat as world champions. *************************************************************** Other similar collapses that immediately come to mind are the 1974 Patriots who started at 5-0 and finished at 7-7, and the 1976 49ers who started at 6-0 and finished at 8-6 ...... strangely enough, Jim Plunkett was the starting quarterback for both of those teams. Lastly, in Dan Fouts' final season, the 1987 Chargers started at 8-1 and finished at 8-7. o |

The 2009 Broncos started the season at 6-0, and finished at 8-8. The 2023 Eagles started at 10-1, and finished at 11-6. They were then blown out of the Wildcard playoffs by a score of 32-9. The 2012 Bears started at 7-1 and finished at 10-6, missing the playoffs. I said off of the top of my head, I didn't say that I was reciting each and every example in pro football history. o |

Absolutely brutal day. We were already down our best defensive player + the guy we gave up two 1sts to come be our new best player... Then we lose our QB for the year and both our best WR and starting RT get concussions that will likely cost multiple games due to being repeat customers.
And we don't even have AR to fall back on because why would we? Now Leonard is about to get his first start on the road in Seattle in mid-December when they're fighting for the #1 seed. And Jones' injury was a real shame because he looked a little more like himself to start the game. Some PA/rollout/boot stuff + the scramble for easy yards. Things looked normal again for a second. Complimentary football went out the window after he went down and it snowballed. Leonard actually had some decent drives, though. Nothing left to do but see what he can do with reps. Crazy. |

I think a pretty fair comparison for AR as of today is Trey Lance. |

Alternatively, I don't think he's particularly inspirational to young men nor is he a schematic genius. The colts have done a decent job of bringing nice kids into the program but I think it's time they get a coach that knows how to win and has proven that. |

The "greatest of all time" of the old era was Johnny U. He wore the shoe. I still can't get over Luck. There was Bert Jones who also didn't want to be a Colt. The reality is in the NFL the franchise QB is becoming less. |

Does it really make you feel better. Cursed are we. The difference is in the NFL you can't have nice things due to injuries, |

The only time that Bert Jones did not want to be a Colt was in his final season with the team, in 1981. That was when he feuded with running back Curtis Dickey when Jones alleged that Dickey did not block for him, and he was angry with Robert Irsay for not paying him the salary that he thought that he was worth and for Irsay allowing the excellent team that Joe Thomas had built to deteriorate into the worst team in the NFL. In 2009, Bert was one of the 39 surviving members of the 1975 Colts team to attend a reunion of the 1975 AFC East championship team at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, a team that was Jim Irsay's favorite Colts team of all-time (Jim was a 16 year-old waterboy for that 1975 Colts team.) This is a picture of Bert with Lydell Mitchell at that reunion at Lucas Oil Stadium in 2009. https://c8.alamy.com/comp/2NEPGWR/fo...gs-2NEPGWR.jpg o |

Steichen just said that Riley Leonard has a knee injury. They hope that he will be available next game, but at this point, they are not sure. |
