Turdsday Night Football.
The Texicant's uniforms are awful, almost as bad as the Charger Bananas.

I’m trying to figure out which one of these teams winning benefits the Colts more
|
Quote:
The Texans winning would benefit the Colts more. If the Texans beat the Bills, it will be Buffalo's 4th loss of the season. If the Texans beat the Bills and the Colts fail to hold off the Texans for the AFC South division title, then the Colts will have nobody to blame but themselves ...... the Colts are 8-2, and they control their own division title destiny with a rather significant cushion. Teams that are 8-2 shouldn't need outside help to hold off a team within their division that started the season at 3-5, as the Texans did before barley getting by the Jaguars and the Titans. o |
Quote:
The first priority is always to win the division and a Texans loss would help more in that regard. Buffalo is only one game ahead of Houston in the standings and would pose no threat to us until the playoffs. If the Texans win tonight, they’d only be two games back in the win column, with two games left against us. Houston is a far bigger threat to us in terms of making the playoffs than Buffalo is. We should definitely be rooting for Buffalo. |

The Colts are 8-2. If they can't hold off the Texans for the division title, regardless of the outcome of tonight's game, then they suck ...... and if the Colts suck, they won't be going anywhere in the playoffs, anyway. The Colts need to be thinking about trying to get one of the top-2 seeds in the playoffs, not about the easiest path to a division title in a division that is mediocre. Josh Allen and the Bills are a proven perennial contender, and getting a higher playoff seed than the Bills would mean that a potential playoff game between the 2 teams would be played in Indianapolis instead of Buffalo ...... to me, that's a lot more important than hoping that a team that started the season at 3-5 catches the Colts, who started the season at 8-2. o |
O-Line damn sure better have figured out their shit the last couple games because this Texans front is fucking ruthless.
|
Quote:
The 3rd quarter is over, and the Bills' offense has only scored 9 points so far ...... they got a touchdown on a 97-yard kick-off return late in the 2nd quarter. o |
The Texans are going to be a problem.
|
For some reason Josh Allen has become a complete moron tonight....he's practically giving the game away!
|
o
This game reminds me of the 2009 game between the Colts and the Dolphins, a game in which the Dolphins dominated both sides of the ball, but Peyton Manning pulled one out of his ass with a late TD drive in the 4th quarter. https://www.jt-sw.com/football/boxes...009-02-ind-mia It was extremely hot and humid in southern Florida on that Monday in early September, and the Dolphins advantage in Time-of-Possession was 45:07 to 14:53. ) o |
Texans playing around with the play clock...cheating bastards!
|
Quote:
That may wind up being crucial. because I believe that the Bills wasted a down by rushing a play in order to avoid a delay-of-game penalty. o |
Bills playing around with reality, what the hell was that play, LOL.
|
o
That hook-and-ladder play was reminiscent of the 2006 season Fiesta Bowl, when Boise State pulled off the upset of Oklahoma. https://i.makeagif.com/media/10-16-2014/ldDtr8.gif o |
I hate everything Texas
|
The Bills OL should be ashamed of themselves!
|
o
The Colts are now up by 2 and-a-half games over the Texans. As I said earlier, if the Colts fail to hold off the Texans for the division title, then the Colts aren't going anywhere in the playoffs, anyway. To be the best, you have to beat the best. And the Texans are not the best team in the NFL. If the Colts can't avoid getting swept by the Texans in both Indianapolis and Houston, and if that sweep winds up costing them the division title, then the Colts aren't bona-fide contenders for a conference championship. o |
Best Thursday night game this year
I think Texans winning will benefit the Colts in the long run Bills totally abandoned the run, going for a fg to make it a 4 point game was dumb as fuck |
Quote:
Even if the Colts lose twice to the Texans, they’d still have a better shot at making the playoffs if the Texans had lost last night. Buffalo is no threat to us until the playoffs, at the earliest. What you’re saying makes no sense. |
Quote:
There was literally NO benefit to us in the Texans winning last night and it would have been WAY better for us if they had lost. That’s not even debatable. |
Quote:
I was thinking Colts getting the 1 seed myself. |
Quote:
That makes a little more sense. I still think the division opponent is always the one to root against but I can see the other argument as well. But still, in terms of making the playoffs period, the Bills winning last night would have been better for us, because it would have increased our chances of winning the division. |
Quote:
Th game last night was pretty meaningless as far as playoffs. This site lays it all out. |

The Colts having more of a cushion to finish with one of the top-2 seeds in the playoffs was the benefit of the Bills losing last night. Buffalo now has 4 losses, and the Colts only have 2. The Colts are 2 and-a-half games ahead of the Texans ...... and if the Colts can't hold off the Texans with a 2 and-a-half game lead more than halfway into the season, they aren't going to be good enough to win the conference championship and make it to the Super Bowl for the first time since 2009 anyway. So if you're rooting for the Colts to hang another AFC South division title banner in the building, you were rooting for the Bills last night. If you are rooting for the Colts to hang an AFC Championship banner and possibly another Super Bowl banner in the building, you were rooting for the Texans. I was rooting for the latter. o |
With the exception of Colts and Orioles, I don't think anyone on this board expected a strong season out of the Colts. If they continue to play as well as they've been playing, they should go very deep or even all the way in the playoffs. If they revert to what we all forecasted from them, the Texans can catch them. Sunday will be very telling. They're playing a team that has been the most successful team in the past 10 years. They have arguably the best QB in the NFL and IMO, the best head coach in the game. I don't expect the Colts to win Sunday, but I hope I'm eating crow come Sunday night.

We also haven’t won the AFC South since 2014 and last night made that more complicated, because now both the Jags and Texans are only 2 games behind us in the win column. We have to play them both twice. I’m not concerned about the 1 seed because I think New England has that locked up with their easy remaining schedule. The Bills and Ravens are the toughest games New England has left, along with the likes of the Bengals, Jets, and Dolphins. I’ll be surprised if they lose more than one game the rest of the way. |

Your historical citation of the last time that the Colts won the division title doesn't have a lot to do with this season ...... hypothetically, if the Colts had not won the division title since 1997, it still would have little to do with the fact that they are 8-2, are playing like one of the best teams in the NFL, finally have a very good quarterback for the first time since Philip Rivers, and are 2 and-a-half games ahead of the Texans more than halfway into the season. The 2006 Colts started the season at 9-0, and finished the season at 12-4. They were a proven perennial contender with arguably the greatest quarterback ever leading the team, and there was nothing surprising about them making it to the Super Bowl and winning it. The previous season they went 14-2, and choked against the Steelers in the playoffs. The following season (2007) they went 13-3, and choked in the playoffs against the Chargers. So your inference that "Wow, anything can happen in the playoffs !!!" wasn't in regard to a team that snuck into the playoffs with a record of 9-7 and made it to the Super Bowl, like the 2008 Arizona Cardinals did. THAT would be an example of anything can happen in the playoffs. The Colts choking against the Steelers in 2005 and the Chargers in 2007 were examples of anything can happen in the playoffs, only they were examples in the negative context rather than the positive. There's 2 possibilities for the Colts at this point, and it has little to do with the Texans ...... the Colts are either going to continue to play strong and finish the season at 12-5, 13-4, or 14-3 to easily take the division title, or the Colts are going to take a nosedive, blow the division, and sneak into the playoffs with a record of 10-7. Subsequently, the outcome of last night's game has little to do with the Colts' chances to be a bona-fide contender for the conference championship ...... if the Colts are for real, there is no way that the Texans or the Jaguars will catch them. If the Colts take a nosedive to finish at 10-7, they aren't going anywhere in the playoffs anyway. o |
Quote:
To be fair, I should not really get credit for predicting the Colts' super start to the season ...... if you look back at the threads for season predictions over the last 6 or 7 years, I have ALWAYS predicted the Colts to have a record of either 13-3-1, or 12-4-1 ...... unless the Colts are expected to have a horrible season (as was the case in 2011 when Peyton Manning was injured), I always predict the rosiest of possible outcomes. o |

If Jones doesn't make a half-dozen turnover worthy plays (which he's done the past two games), then frankly, some of these teams don't scare me.
You have to show up and play, and the football isn't round, blah, blah... so anything can happen. But we lost to the Texans by 2 and 3 points last year with our QB throwing a combined 19/51 (37%) including gifting a touchdown right before halftime in the second game. |
Quote:
Agreed. My biggest fear is a Colts collapse down the stretch, not being caught by the Jaguars or the Texans. And to be caught by the Jaguars or the Texans would require a Colts collapse. If the Colts go 4-3 in their last 7 games, then there would be virtually no way that they would not win the division. If the Colts go 2-5 in their last 7 games to fall to 10-7, then the likelihood of them making a deep playoff run will be minimal. o |
We definitely need Home Field Advantage for as much the playoffs as possible.
As has been said on here several times, we control our own destiny due to a large lead in the division, an unbeaten record in the division, the best conference record in the AFC and basically and a virtual tie for the best overall record in the AFC. The next 3 weeks are critical. Nothing less that a 2-1 record during that span is acceptable. |
