16.6 PFF grade for Dalton Tucker?

How is that possible? You could set up a chair between Bortolini and Smith, and Barcalounger would have graded out better than 16.6. Admittedly, that’s only his pass blocking grade. His grade for run blocking was 57’something, which is a nice number for a steak sauce, but doesn’t land him in the top 60 Guards who pulled up a helmet and ran out onto the field, yesterday.

Think about it. This is a guy whose run blocking skills were an embarrassment and whose pass blocking ability could only hope to rise to that level. Surely, somewhere out there, there’s a big rawboned kid flipping burgers at McDonalds who brings more to the table than Tucker. Chris Ballard should go out right now and order a Big Mac, fries and a supersized burger flipper.

I’ll admit that I’m probably being too tough on him. He’s an undrafted free agent, a project who probably needs a couple of years to develop. I’m all for cutting him some slack, but he ought to be learning from the best seat in the house…the bench…a ground level seat at the 50 yard line.

He’s played well in previous games. The problem v Jets was having 3 noobs playing at the same time. There was poor communication and management of blocking assignments. It took the jets until the 2nd half to realize that blitzing was going to confuse the OL.

If we don’t get starters back soon these guys better put in the time

I agree...although I will add that even if the Colts had only vet back-ups, whenever 3 of 5 spots in an O-Line are back-ups, there is a fairly decent chance that an offensive line will look like complete garbage just because they will not have practiced much in that particular line-up configuration.

Quinnen Williams abused the rookies. On the plus side Goncalves is in the top five of rookie oline allowing the least pressure.

Anyone thinking that moving Pinter to Center and Bortolini to Guard would help? Maybe Goncalves to guard and Freeland to to LT?

I dunno, but I didn't like Freeland in pre-season and Pinter hasn't played in forever.

The Colts brought back a familiar face as another backup option / replacement in case the line continues to struggle or if there are more injuries.

Glow has been signed to Indy's practice squad.

G Mark Glowinski is back with the Colts.

Indy added him to the practice squad, marking his return from starting 14 games here in 2021.

He’s 32 now, but I wonder if he can factor into the right guard spot as time goes on.

LT is the most important position, I wouldn't touch it. Easier to cover a guard. At this point there isn't much you can do except hope he develops. It was a bad matchup, it happens. You could try Pinter at center but it feels like you're now changing two positions hoping it works.

It's going to drop to -16.6 after today's horrific performance.

Yep. Tucker was completely abused today; just like last week. Might be best to give him a time out and bring up either Sills or Glow to play ROG next week.

I Agree Tucker was abused. But, when he was abused it was almost always physically.

This wasn't the same as two years ago, when we put Matt "turnstile" Prior out there and he was blocking air.

Tucker clearly does not have an NFL body yet.

Yeah, he'll get there. Remember how much bigger Raimann got from year-1 to year-2?

Besides being a rookie and taking lumps (against a talented stretch of opponents, btw)... he's the direct drop-off from Fries who was one of the highest graded guards in the league when he got hurt.

The comparison makes him look even worse. Same for the other two rooks on the OL. I like them all, but they are rookies, so it's not surprising that they look like it. Sucks to lose three good OL at once.

Yeah, it's more like when Pinter started at OG and our opponents quickly figured out he wasn't strong enough to hold up to a bull rush. The difference is that that was Pinter's 3rd year in the league, and Tucker has shown much more promise at OG then Pinter did. So not saying to give up on him. Just maybe go w/ one of the vets that does have an NFL body before Tucker gets AR killed.

I am hoping we bring Glowinski up from the PS next week.
