OFFICIAL GAME THREAD: Season On the Line ??? (vs. BEARS, 9/22)

o

In 1993, the Dallas Cowboys started the season at 0-2 and wound up winning the Super Bowl ...... but since the Super Bowl era began in 1966, only 6 teams have overcome an 0-3 start to the make playoffs ...... but not one of those 6 teams even made it to the conference championship game, let alone the Super Bowl. The last team to make the post-season after an 0-3 start was the 2018 Houston Texans.

You’re right I forgot that gave us the lead the offense has looked like sloppy desperation all year outside of JT in the 3rd quarter vs the packers

Hoopsdoc 09-22-2024 09:45 AM

Must win game if the season is to amount to anything.

Let’s go Colts.

Thorgrim 09-22-2024 10:05 AM

Kicker comes through.
Coats 19-16

Chromeburn 09-22-2024 10:20 AM

omahacolt 09-22-2024 10:37 AM

Omaha can do whatever he wants in grading game threads ...... all I care about is whether or not the Colts win, and that has nothing to do with what fans on a website post. I stopped believing in the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny, jinxes, whammies, and curses a long time ago.

We'll see how this goes. After last week's shit show I'm not too confident. If the Colts play like they did last week then that'll probably go a long way in them giving me my Sunday afternoon's back

Colts lose on a last minute missed FG by Matt Gay.

ChoppedWood 09-22-2024 11:48 AM

Last week, Gus Bradley clearly took note of my sardonic post about 10 men on the field and 10 yard cushions- and deployed my unique strategy to once again allow the opposition to have a field day in TOP. Great job Gus, listening to an internet madman to structure your defensive plan- great job!

This week, Gus will again follow my lead. He is at least going to get away from the 10 vs 11 players concept- which is a good start. This week however he is not giving those big cushions, well he isn't going to JUST TELL THE OPPOSITION that's what he is doing (like he does in every other game!) nope this week all 11 are going to be in the box coming out of the huddle. He is going to spice things up though with some confusion (smart guy). Just before the snap- CB's and Safeties will come to the line and put their hands in the dirt while all the DL will fall back into deep zone coverage. The LB's are going to run off the field, and will be replaced by offensive guards. We're going to go jumbo in the 2nd and 3rd levels. Gus is very confident Bryan and Grover will be able to cover Odunze and Moore with single high coverage support from Nelson.

Caleb Williams will go 97-103 for 568, he will run for 5 TD's, he will be awarded a 2nd Heisman post game.

Bears 57.3 to 2.7 TOP - I have stopped even talking about the score, that's a given, the more pertinent result is whether or not Gus can find a way to end up with negative TOP at some point this season- goals, gotta have em'.

In their last 10 season-openers, the Colts are 0-9-1 ...... they have not won their first game of the season since 2013, when a young man named Andrew Luck was taking snaps behind the center.

And so in recent history, the Colts have had a habit of starting slowly and then drawing us back in with a win Week 2 or Week 3 ....... the only time in that span (2013 through 2024) in which the Colts did not win their first game until Week 4 was in 2021, and they went 9-3 over their next 12 games that year before dropping their final 2 to finish at 9-8 overall.

Kenny Moore seals the game with a pick 6

ChoppedWood 09-22-2024 12:55 PM

Matt Pryor starting at RT. Bears will run for over a grand in this one.

CletusPyle 09-22-2024 01:02 PM

I have lowered my expectations for this team in order to avoid throwing things and damaging items in my home!

nate505 09-22-2024 01:02 PM

Steichen defers on the coin toss. Thank god, don't know why he chose to receive in Game 1.

Wise financial decision.

CletusPyle 09-22-2024 01:07 PM

So far so bad.......

I don't know- these cushions look pretty solid, the consistency is quite strong. Nice aesthetics.

nate505 09-22-2024 01:09 PM

All right, a 3rd and 5+ yards...let's see how they manage to give up a conversion this time.

Spike 09-22-2024 01:10 PM

Wow, Bradley defense is a sieve. Just letting the inept Bears offense to move on down the field.

ChoppedWood 09-22-2024 01:10 PM

Okay- great FP- fucking play fake and hit them deep 1st damn play- send a message that we aren't fucking around today.

CletusPyle 09-22-2024 01:11 PM

Blue giving him the business!:D

nate505 09-22-2024 01:11 PM

Well, the Bears tried a 56 long FG for some reason.

Honestly, what gives me a bit of confidence in this game is that the Bears lately have been a more hapless team than the Colts.

Spike 09-22-2024 01:12 PM

Wow, someone missed a FG against us.

Colts And Orioles 09-22-2024 01:13 PM

o

A missed FG-attempt of 40 yards-or-less is lucky for the defense.

A missed FG-attempt of 56 yards is a bona-fide stop by the defense.

o

nate505 09-22-2024 01:15 PM

Agreed, that penalty is on AR. If you see your guy that far downfield, passing is not an option at that point.

Spike 09-22-2024 01:15 PM

Damn, a positive play and then a penalty.

nate505 09-22-2024 01:15 PM

What the hell, why are Richardson's receivers sabotaging him.

nate505 09-22-2024 01:16 PM

And then Richardson sabotages himself with another pass that's way too high.

ChoppedWood 09-22-2024 01:16 PM

Pierce had a great soft spot in the zone - easy touch pass- gotta stop doing that shit!

Chromeburn 09-22-2024 01:16 PM

The fucking drops man.

TheMugwump 09-22-2024 01:17 PM

Our guy threw two good and one bad pass there, but he'll get an 0 - 2 on the stat sheet because someone was downfield early and then Downs dropped one.

But folks will hate on AR, of course.

Spike 09-22-2024 01:18 PM

Drops, bad pass, penalty. Nothing fucking changes.

TBF, opposing kickers usually hit those against us.

ChoppedWood 09-22-2024 01:20 PM

NFL is such a fucking joke

ChaosTheory 09-22-2024 01:20 PM

They need to coach Ar to throw it at the guy's knees.
