quick thoughts on another debacle

1) this should shut up all the "everything is fine" crowd. its clear what this team is. a very bad team. probably bottom 5. not by talent but by production.

2) this team is constantly unprepared. they have zero intensity or fire to start games. clearly lack leadership, we saw that last year. and most of all this is a fucking soft ass team.

3) colts have more talent than the titans. way less heart

4) fries was better than pinter. which shows there was no competition. that said, fries can't run block for shit. but simmons is a beast so lets give him some time.

5) we can't run. trying to run was wasting downs. yet we did it over and over and over again. that is piss poor coaching

6) buckner really makes everyone around him better. we need to realize his production can't be measured by the stat sheet.

7) ryan is done. play foles or ehlinger.

8) good fucking game from the te room. well done dudes

9) good couple catches from pierce. but dude gets almost no seperation.

10) colts getting bullied by the titans should piss them off. it doesn't

11) for all the things ballard does well, he is too stubborn. we need more talent at premiere positions. he failed to fix the issues on this team. again.

12) ngakoue sucks. paye is coming around but really needs coaching and more moves

13) offensive line coach should be fired today

ChoppedWood 10-02-2022 04:24 PM

THis is solid, lots and lots of things pointing to a really bad coaching regime- all of which should be fired today not just the OL. Gut it and build from zero because zero is better than negative and the guys we have now, are a negative.

Luck4Reich 10-02-2022 04:27 PM

It's starting to look like we have too many "I got my money" and don't care players.

YDFL Commish 10-02-2022 04:30 PM

One thing I would like to point out, is that if we would treat Matt Ryan like Peyton Manning and give him weapons, protection and let him run the show, instead of Reich, then the offense would be so much better.

Hoopsdoc 10-02-2022 04:47 PM

A gutless spineless heartless jellyfish of a team. They’re Tennessee’s bitch, they’re Jacksonville’s bitch and they don’t f*****g care.

They got their fat contracts, they got their pro bowls and they don’t give a flying f**k

They ran Wentz out of town and 4 games into the season it’s clear that he wasn’t the problem. The problem is they’re a bunch of heartless pussies.

wentz has nothing to do with anything. he was an issue but clearly he wasn't the only issue. we all knew that

he fumbles twice a game.

i know he can perform with time but he is part of the problem. we can't protect him enough for him to do what he needs to do

Well the Frank that used Wentz to obscure his failings to the owner.

that is part of the problem. probably the majority of the problem

JAFF 10-02-2022 04:59 PM

It was the same Titans game plan since Vrable became head coach. Nothing surprising, nothing new.

Old idea that works, play the run on the way to the Qb.

Agreed.

My point is we could all see there was a lot more to the failures of this team than just an admittedly bad QB- most notably a bad coach.

However that coach appears to have been able to convince the owner the totality of the problem was the bad QB and avoided taking his share of the blame (which SHOULD have resulted in his dismissal).

Veil is pulled back now, lots of problems on this team, lots of problems with the coaching of this team.

Frank has been exposed for being a bad head coach. Frank needs to be dismissed right fucking now!

YDFL Commish 10-02-2022 05:18 PM

Has this offense been any good since Siriani left?

Brylok 10-02-2022 05:35 PM

We need to blow the whole thing up at the end of the season.

As I said in the game thread, Ballard out, Reich out, Jim Irsay out. All high priced/salaried players out. Try to get first round picks for Taylor and Leonard, and if you can't, trade them for what you can get. Start Ehlinger and hopefully draft a franchise QB for the future in the next draft. It's going to hurt, it's going to suck, but I'd rather go 2-15 next year than keep this mess/fraud/sideshow going on and on and on.

I like Leonard a lot. Very good player. But this has to end, and he has to go. Celebrating mediocrity cannot continue, let alone low end mediocrity.

I disagree to an extent. Yeah, blow up the coaching staff. However, the players have the talent to win in this league more often than not. The problem is that they need a coach to put them in the best possible situations to do so. Every team has some level of talent. A good coach, and a good QB are often the difference between the 2021 Jags and the 2022 Jags. Replace Frank, and I bet we sweep the division next year.

Obviously can't test this hypothesis but I would venture to guess this team could win 9 of the remaining 13 just by firing Frank right now. The talent is there for this team, but they need someone that is better at this than him.

The final 2 minutes, dude literally managed the clock so bad that they only had to get ONE first down in the final two minutes to seal it.

The guy is clearly bad at motivating these guys and he makes so many bad decisions in the game it is crazy.

I think he probably meant in good spirits about his injury, not about the game and the loss.

I don't think so. The rot is too deep now. It's so deep it's making Taylor suck.

I watch a ton of football, a ton. Though I hate what Goodell has made of this league, I still love watching the insane athleticism these guys display week after week.

That said, and maybe it is just because I am so close to it and watch it with such intense focus, but it seems like the Colts have SOOOOOO many fucking different sets. It seems like the WR / TE group, and including Hines, are a constantly rotating cycle. It seems like it is hard to get continuity in Frank's system unless you are Taylor and Pittman. Seems like he does waaaaaaay too much scheming to try to make the opposition believe he won't be focusing on those two.

Outside of riding Taylor he doesn't seem capable of riding the momentum of particular players.

When a player gets rolling in basketball and he can't miss, you don't sit him down to get him a drink, you ride that wave until his ass collapses.

I literally despise watching Frank overcoach the game so damn much!

I would agree, but this rot is settled in and getting deeper. Frank isn't a good coach anymore, and his team talent is deteriorating game by game. We need to flush the toilet, and I'm not getting any younger. There's no quick and easy remedy for this. It has been a long time coming, probably before Luck quit. We've just been kicking the can down the road.

Hoopsdoc 10-02-2022 06:03 PM

Texans and Jags both lost so the Colts are only a game and a half back in the division.

It doesn’t matter though because they can’t beat Jacksonville and they can’t beat Tennessee.

You’d think these guys would have some pride at some point but they don’t. They just don’t care. And Frank can’t do anything about it.

It’s ridiculous. This offensive line was bad last year but it’s just putrid this season. Consider this-the Colts gave up 32 sacks in 17 games last year. They given up almost half that already this year in just 4 games. 15 sacks allowed. That’s 28th in the league. Only the Bears, Bengals, and Commanders are worse.

It’s unbelievable how bad they’ve been.

They need to start putting asses on the bench. Bench Kelly and Smith. Put Pinter at center, Pryor at right tackle, and Raimann at left tackle.

They have to do something. I mean, it’s not like they can be much worse.

He seems to figure out a way to kill every drive with some asinine gadget play. They get in the red zone just playing pitch and catch and running JT. Just keep going and stop trying to outsmart the other coach with some gadget that never seems to work or end in some kind of penalty! Ryan has been a QB for 15 seasons, let him make more on field decisions.

Yep, smart guy man, smart guy. If he doesn't tell you, well he'll sure as fuck show you.

Literally the worst coach I have ever watched. Can't even imagine what it must be like trying to go out for a night on the town with him. The dinner order alone would likely have the chef spitting and worse on the food because of all the alterations he probably requests.

He has to have some form of neurotic complex.

I’d also like to remind people that the Colts have more money invested in their offensive line than any other team.

It’s just ridiculous. Someone needs to be fired, benched, or cut.

Matt Ryan has a better QB rating than Wentz. Wentz would be 0-4 on this team without JT’s running.

I don't understand how the line is so bad. Was the last 2-3 years some sort of mirage? Weren't they good at one time? Were Constanzo and Glowinski just that critical to their success? Did they all forget how to play football? Were they all just playing for a paycheck?

I haven't seen an OL this bad for the Colts since Samson Satele and Mike McGlynn were a part of the team.

I noticed as well. Woods was replaced after his big play and Pierce was switched out after every catch he made (or at least it seemed like).

I totally agree. Say what you want about Satele and McGlynn, but they at least tried. They were just fringe players at best on the NFL level.

This group of clowns has proven they can play in the NFL. They just don't seem to care.

It is amazing how badly these assholes have played since they got paid. I’m talking both players and coaches. Reich gets himself a nice contract extension and forgets how to coach. Offensive line has 3 budding all-pros, they get paid and now can’t block for shit. It goes on. Ballard takes the majority of the blame to me. He keeps harping on having ‘high quality’ guys. He is right except he has zero idea of how to evaluate for that. We even have one guy who’s only job is to make sure we get the right mind set in players. There is no answer to this. We will just have to live with a shit team for the foreseeable future. Damn this sucks.
