Week 16 Injury Reports

COVID-19 related news:

RT Braden Smith was placed on the COVID-19 list and will not play vs Pittsburgh.

The Colts now have 5 players listed on the COVID-19 reserve list: Braden Smith, Jordan Glasgow, Ibraheim Campbell, Joey Hunt and Rob Windsor.

The Colts have placed starting RT Braden Smith on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. A notable loss for Sunday’s game vs. the Steelers.

The loss of RT Braden Smith would always be critical, but it's even tougher this week with Pittsburgh on tap. Steelers OLB T.J. Watt, who leads NFL in sacks and quarterback hits, typically rushes against the right tackle.

Reich's not letting us know exactly what the plan will be on Sunday. Mentions Chaz Green and Will Holden, but does not say exactly what the plan is.

The Colts have had 3 guys go on the reserve/COVID-19 list this week, but the NFL has not determined that there were additional high-risk close contacts.

Castonzo and Al-Quadin Muhammad are both QUESTIONABLE.

Marcus Johnson is OUT.

Of those three, Castonzo is obviously the one to watch with the ankle on top of the knee.

Quote:

Castonzo listed with a new ankle injury on Thursday, and Reich says he did not practice today and is questionable for Sunday's game.

Colts' tackle situation a clear trouble spot going into a game against a very good defensive line.

Braden being out is going to hurt. Hope Castanzo can go.

Yep. I can see Grandpa Rivers lumbering around back there for a few panicky seconds before either taking a sack, fumbling, or chucking up a lame duck for Fitzpatrick.

If Braden Smith (and possibly Costanzo, too) is/are out, Rivers may need to throw more screen passes without giving up any Joe Theismann/Jack Squirek Super Bowl XVIII pick-6's.

The 2020 Colts seem to have done very well at adapting/improvising through the first 14 games of the season so far. Philip Rivers has spread the ball around to a lot of different receivers ...... there are 7 different Colts receivers that have 25 or more receptions, and 11 different Colts receivers that have 10 or more receptions.

That's the proverbial glass-is-half-full take.

This is the glass-is-half-empty perspective.

Yes. He was downgraded to out!

Maniac 12-26-2020 06:23 PM

Well that f'ing sucks. Big game and both tackles out.

apballin 12-26-2020 07:17 PM

Yea be interesting to see how it changes the game plan because any game we’ve had a lineman out Rivers hasn’t played as confident, I say a lot of Taylor and quick passes

Yeah, feels like every game has been a "big" game the past 5 weeks or so, but the last time we had what felt like a REALLY big one, we got hit with Covid.

Discflinger 12-27-2020 12:57 AM

F’ed.

All we can hope for is the D showing up BIG.

NFLN does not have Smith listed as out? Is this true or did they miss it?

Smith is on the COVID-19 reserve list so he is not on the active roster for today's game.
