Offense just couldn't handle the blitz in the second half. the screens were working when they called them.

The 3rd and 1 ply calls SUCKED. They sold out to stop Taylor. The end around would have worked on the last one if you give them the ball.

The D played good enough to win--if not great.

Brylok 11-23-2025 05:44 PM

I'll join most people in blaming Steichen for this loss. It's disappointing, but I was expecting an L anyway. Have a good rest of your day, y'all.

nate505 11-23-2025 05:47 PM

I thought they would lose too. At least it went to OT. It's just more of a bummer how they lost. They had a real chance to win, and Steichen just made all the wrong calls at the end of the game.

Also, Jones needs to be better at the end of the game. That or Steichen needs to develop plays he can make. It's like they couldn't adjust.

albany ed 11-23-2025 05:53 PM

Well, one thing is certain, the Chiefs have the better coach and the better QB. That proved to be enough.

Hoopsdoc 11-23-2025 05:58 PM

I fully expected a loss. In fact, I predicted it wouldn’t be close.

The Chiefs are a dynasty. They were 5-5 and absolutely DESPERATE for a win. I would have been shocked had we won, especially considering it was in KC.

I’m pleasantly surprised by the Colts showing today.

I think if we play them in Indy, we’d have a very good shot at winning.

Right now, we just need to worry about Houston and Jacksonville.

The New York Chiefs have never lost a game!

I was really hoping that the back up 3 techs could fill in a little better that this. We need Buckner back in a big way.

Probably not getting the #1 seed now so that pressure is off, Get ready for Houston

Yeah, Steichen and Anarumo got completely lapped by Reid and Spags. They had answers and we had golly shucks, at least we tried.

Yeah, the entire focus now has to be on winning the division. If we can split the 4 games against the Texans and Jags and split the games against Seattle and San Fran, we should be alright.

That would put us at 11-6 and almost certainly as division champs.

dwilli57 11-23-2025 06:21 PM

I can't remember seeing us do a good halftime adjustment since Manning.

Other than the Colts, the Chiefs are my favorite team to watch. Largely because of Mahomes. Daniel Jones is a good QB, who executes the plays as they are designed. Mahomes is a wizard who is at his best when the design breaks down. That's what makes him so tough to defend. You play great defense and he improvises into a huge gain. The man is magic.

Oldcolt 11-23-2025 06:29 PM

In my mind it was kind of a defining game for the Colts. They lost. Lots of specific reasons why they lost. For me the big picture was Taylor was stopped, really good NFL teams can do that. Jones didn't elevate. Not sure he can. We will find out because that is what everyone will be trying to do from now on. Until it isn't, it is how you beat us.

Good points....watching a game on TV you only see what the camera shows us, I find it hard to believe Pierce, Downs, or Warren weren't getting open more often. We just didn't make plays when we needed to to put the game away, and the Chiefs seem to always find an open receiver when they really needed one!

The Chiefs sold out to stop the run and dared Jones to beat them. For a good portion of the game, he did. At the end, he didn’t.

Almost, but not quite, good enough.

I've said before that I believe that there is a good chance that the AFC Championship game will be between the Colts and the Chiefs, and I still believe that ...... if it does come to that, that game will probably be played in Indianapolis.

Jacksonville survives, moves within a game of the Colts with the win....of course!

Think you're giving Jones too much credit. He (and the entire offense) was terrible in the entire 4th quarter and OT and just ok in the first 3 quarters. Take away the post Latu int TD, which was only for 3 yards, and our O only mustered 13 points this game

I blame Steichen more than anyone else though. He has no idea what to do when our opponents start getting aggressive w/ blitzes, and it leads to Jones becoming a deer in the headlights.

I wouldn't say anything deer in the headlights. Because Jones never seems to flinch. IMO, Steichen needs to give him better options or more freedom, ala PM.

So yeah Steichen needs to improve in that area.

I was hoping that the Jaguars would lose to give the Colts more of a cushion within the division. But as I stated before, the Colts started the season at 8-2, so if they blow the division then they aren't a bona-fide contender anyway.

I said that the Colts needed to win 4 out of their 7 remaining games before the Chiefs game ...... now that they lost to the Chiefs, they need to win 4 out of the last 6. And with 4 of those games being against the Texans and the Jaguars, they will either show that they are for real or they will wilt under the pressure.

If all 3 teams in the AFC South collapse down the stretch and the Colts back into the division title with a record of 10-7, then they aren't going anywhere in the playoffs anyway. If the Colts take care of business and win 4 out of their last 6 games to finish at 12-5, they will easily take the AFC South and likely have one of the top-2 seeds in the AFC.

Maybe deer in the headlights was the wrong wording, but he basically goes from being a really good QB to a low comp % turnover machine.

Agree on Steichen, since we have run few, if any plays designed to slow down the opponents blitzes.

I don’t give a fuck I gotta say it

Chiefs got 5 first downs off of penalties

Not to mention 25 more yards and 4 more penalties on the Colts

Can’t touch Mahomes yet the chiefs were throwing Jones into the goal post and no flag

NFL is entertainment and they’re gonna WWE this mfer into the playoffs if it’s the last thing they do

Exactly...that's why they are the New York Chiefs!

We now have a defensive lineman that leads the team outright in INT's (Latu has 3 INT's, while no other Colts player has more than 2.)

ChoppedWood 11-24-2025 06:37 PM

We had 3:14 of TOP in 4th, we had 1 first down in the final 18 minutes of game play.

You can credit KC for their attacking style, you can slam DJ for not hitting some of the crucial completions, but the motherfucker that deserves every single bit of the blame for the above ridiculousness is Steichen. Look at what it took for KC to push the damn game to OT, another ~40 seconds / missing TO's resulting from just a couple handoffs, and this game likely goes into the W column.

He has consistently proven to be a shitty, terrible, trash ass garbage ass- game clock manager.

I originally said that the Colts needed to win 4 out of their final 7 games to win the division and head into the playoffs as bona-fide contenders for an AFC Championship and a trip to the Super Bowl for the first time since 2009.

Then they lost to the Chiefs, so 4-out-of-7 became 4-out-of-6.

Then they lost to the Texans, so 4-out-of-6 has become 4-out-of-5.

Our beloved Colts are running out of affordable losses ...... they still can prove that they are a bona-fide contender to make a deep playoff run, but their sense of urgency has increased exponentially since their win over the Falcons 3 games ago.

If they go down to Jacksonville and beat the Jaguars I am foolish enough to jump back on the bandwagon....a good sound beating would definitely do it!

Regardless of how angry and annoyed that you are with the team right now, you'll be on the Colts' bandwagon until they are mathematically eliminated from a playoff berth, and you know it ...... face it, you bleed royal-blue-and-white, and you can't change that any more than you can change your height or your ethnicity.

That wouldn't be foolish. The Colts could very easily win that game. If the offense fixes its problem with the blitz, they're capable of running the table.

I would say that is true, but also figuring out a way to stop crossing routes on defense.
