I predicted a 1-5 or 2-4 start. Looks like 1-5 is the best we’re gonna do and 0-6 is a real possibility.

I don’t think we’re as bad as we seem. Our schedule is just brutal early. And we can’t seem to stay healthy anywhere.

We needed to win one of the first 2. Thats going to bite us later.

Kansas City is 1-2. Good teams lose games they should not. Bad teams win games they should not. The league is set up for teams to be close to parity. This is not to say that we are about to run off 14 straight, but to say why I am not throwing in the towel just yet. Now, if we lose three more before we win, we might think about sitting Wentz to save the first round pick.

Watched the last two Chiefs games... Mahomes line isn't protecting him very well. He is playing hero ball and that D isn't very good.. Chargers dominated that game from start to finish. The close score doesn't indicate it but Chiefs are getting outplayed a lot.

Sounds familiar huh.

He should have set today. And if they had a backup they trusted he likely would have.

Look, I like Wentz. He’s really impressed me with his toughness. And he gave us our best shot at winning.

But he had no business playing today. He should have been concentrating on getting healthy.

And I’m really starting to wonder if it wouldn’t be smarter to sit him and keep that high first rounder. If we lose the next 2, I KNOW it would be the smart move.

We HAVE to solve the quarterback position.

I was thinking earlier I wished we had somehow kept brisket, then I saw him throw the stupidest pass in the end zone for a safety, purged that thought.

Agreed. He should have sat today for several reasons.


1) Wentz was not even close to being 100 % healthy today, and we may have done just as well (perhaps even a little better) if we had a healthy 2nd-string quarterback (Eason/Ehlinger/Hundley) taking the snaps.

2) This may or may not be a wasted season ...... if it does wind up being a wasted season, then playing Wentz with both of his ankles hurting with a team that already had an 0-2 record coming into this game made no sense at all.



We got the worst of both worlds today ...... Wentz played AND we lost the game. The risk-reward decision was highly questionable, at best.

Agreed. I'm not throwing in the towel, either. The Colts could still conceivably be something like 6-6 or 7-5 after 12 games, and that would probably put them right in the middle of the hunt for the division title ...... that said, an 0-3 start still screams that it may be getting late early (Yogi Berra.)

It would not have been better with the backups. Huntley has moved up over Eason and Huntley is terrible.

We know it from their performance in training camp. Wentz is their best option.

Wentz (especially Sunday) is the best option on a team with no capable backup. However, being the best option in this case still means losing the game. Wentz had absolutely no lateral movement ability. In some cases, a simple slide to the right or left would have given him more time, but he couldn't do it. It's not the same exact situation, but this post reminds me of what team owner Branch Rickey said to Ralph Kiner when Kiner requested a raise after leading the National League in Home Runs for the 7th consecutive season in 1952 ...... "Son, we finished in last place with you, we can finish in last place without you."

I think he should have sat. He isn't healthy, I don't need to see him hobble out there to know he is tough. But he is still their best option at QB.

JMV is saying Eason will be let go once Ehlinger is healthy. Eason must have screwed up in some way.

Hundley was awful in camp. The fact he has moved above Eason is telling.
