Part of me feels like the Colts have, or think they have, some sort of inside track on Stafford or someone else.
Otherwise, if the reports are true, why slam the door on Rivers? They originally told him to take a month and decide, if I’m not mistaken. Why tell him they’re moving on 3 days later if they don’t have something else in hand? Unless they decided he’s just completely done, which is possible. Doesn’t make sense. |
Dodds wasn’t interviewing. He went on a deep state stealth mission to set up a trade. Its a conspiracy, the interview was a cover. Make the colts great again!

I thought Rivers just retired - I hadn't heard that before retiring the Colts told him anything about moving on...? |

Could be true, might not be. Results are the same. |

Apparently, Schefter is saying that the Colts haven’t even contacted Detroit about Stafford.
There’s something fishy going on.... |

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/...colts-and-more https://www.profootballrumors.com/20...-philip-rivers Of course, we haven't even reached the offseason yet this year, and Rivers was a free agent and not a trade target, so maybe its premature to say this situation is exactly comparable. |

Part of me has assumed that we won't be going for a big free agent QB.
Rivers was OK because it was a 1 year deal. Its seems unlikely Ballard wants to lock in to a free agent on a long term contract. Ballard also likely doesn't want to ship out another 1st round draft pick after doing it for Buckner. Also Irsay said in his interview that its better to draft your guy. I think its Eason Season. |

I feel like its stafford or a trade up and draft.

I think it’s Stafford. I have no idea what their plan B is. I don’t think they do either. Nick Foles? Draft might be plan C.
Usually the obvious happens with this team. Don’t see a lot of head fakes. |

I wonder how many months this will go on? Fills radio time I guess.

My guess is we don't land Stafford. There are a lot of teams looking to get him. The cost will be driven up. He is good, not great. If he were great he would have won more. Great qbs can elevate mediocre or bad teams. He doesn't seem capable of this. I don't think Ballard will overpay for him, at least I hope he wont. I have no idea what they are thinking or where they will go to fill the qb position, but I don't think they are blowing smoke about Eason needing more time.

Albert breer on DP show this morning thinks stafford will be traded quickly to get a head of all the other QBs trades/signings

Stafford is under contract and they wouldn’t want the Lions to find out that they REALLY want him or the price will just keep going up. That could explain the difference. |
I want to give some props to the Colt front office. Seems like a very professional group. You know that this quarterback situation is their top priority and yet nothing has leaked from them. There really are no tea leaves to read yet.
