Another great throw by Leonard to Pierce and then Leonard runs it in.

ChoppedWood 01-04-2026 03:56 PM

We fucking wasted 4 games. We threw them, and the playoffs, fucking away!

Hoopsdoc 01-04-2026 03:56 PM

The Texans keep daring Leonard to go deep and he keeps burning them.

This is insane.

I’m already pissed off about it. It’s really inexcusable.

We could have had a 4 game sample to really see what we have in Leonard and Steichen pissed it away on 44 year old Rivers. It’s almost a fireable offense in my mind.

But he may have needed the mentorship of Rivers to get him to where he is today.

Exactly, I'll never understand it. PR looked good in his ability to read the defenses but he was out there throwing wounded ducks. We all saw RL look good when he stepped in for DJ, I just don't understand not giving him a shot.

This team is just stupid, I think. The decision making has been downright dumb for a long time.

Racehorse 01-04-2026 03:59 PM

Every good TD is followed by ST failure.

It’s not even the playoffs in my mind. I’m not sure we would have made it even with Leonard starting.

It’s the fact that we could have had 4 game worth of info on Leonard to evaluate. So would everyone else. We would had a better idea if Leonard is for real or if teams can successfully game plan for him once they get tape on him.

If we didnt have coaches that can mentor young players, then the coaches need to be fired.

NextManUp 01-04-2026 04:01 PM

The Texans are sitting Stroud now. How funny would it be if Tennessee rallies and beats the Jags.

albany ed 01-04-2026 04:02 PM

it's Tyler Warren time

Players have as much impact as coaches. In fact, a player at the same position with a HOF resume often have more of an impact. Marvin taught Reggie, who taught TY.

My thoughts exactly. We may have lost all of those games, but it gives you more of a sample size to evaluate what we have. I am still in the boat you sign Jones to a friendly deal knowing we may have something with this kid. Odds are we are going to have to start him the first few games of the year.

I wonder if Rivers would be interested in being the QB coach next year.

Hoopsdoc 01-04-2026 04:04 PM

Ok there’s a really bad throw.

100% spot on.

What we are seeing is remarkably impressive, but it is just one game. How important it would be to have a 4-5 game file to review and process to assist in decisions for next year.

So shitty. Obviously RL is doing some great things as a result of SS's designs, but it is SS's failure to trust him to do these things which puts us in such a shitty position come 4:15 PM.

Yeah, but not gonna happen with Brandon Weeden in, or whatever the forgettable QB for the Tacks is.

YDFL Commish 01-04-2026 04:04 PM

Quit bitching...it's all speculation on how Riley Leonard would have performed 4 weeks ago. Injured knee and Phillip Rivers influence, not with standing.

We weren’t winning anything in the playoffs with Rivers even if we had made it. That was obvious. Even Steichen had to have known that.

So why was he signed?

Not sure 2 years was needed, but in hindsight it seems obvious that we should have at least sat him to start his rookie year and slowly worked him in.

Although what we all have seem to have forgotten is that AR played much better than expected in his limited time his rookie year. That could have been an aberration, or he could have regressed between his rookie and 2nd year.

o

I agree.

I have been a big Riley Leonard supporter since his good showing against the Jaguars last month, and I still am ...... I think that he could at least be the Colts' 2nd-string QB in 2026, maybe even more ...... but I also was a supporter of the move to bring Philip Rivers in, and Rivers actually played well against the 49ers while the Colts' defense and special teams were completely shitting the bed.

It's water-under-the-bridge that needs not be met with outrage.

Or a combination of bad route and bad throw. Either way that ball shouldn't have been thrown. Take the safe throw when its there. Not every toss has to be 40 yards down the field.

He absolutely strikes me as being the guy that doesn't believe in the "It's the Jimmies and Joes not the X's and O's" mantra. To me he just seems very confident that he can beat everyone with his schemes regardless of the competition he is facing, and would seem to be overly thrilled to win with an underdog squad where he can pat himself on the back. To me, there's way too much Reich ethos with him.

I hate Jimmy Johnson, I don't think he was a great coach, but Jimmy Johnson was the absolute pinnacle of just leaning into the skills and talents of the guys on the roster by recognizing it is a simple game if you just let the talent do the work for you. It was so fucking simple and so damn frustrating to watch.

Not just Stroud, but they sat all of their key defensive and skill players coming out of the half as well. It'll be an absolute disgrace if we don't win this game now

Teams learned his weaknesses.

That’s what NFL defenses do. Take away what you do well and if you can’t be effective then, you’re not gonna make it.

That’s why in my opinion it would have been great to see Leonard for extended minutes.

Hoopsdoc 01-04-2026 04:29 PM

Come on Pierce. You have to know better than that. Can’t make contact with an official.

Racehorse 01-04-2026 04:30 PM

BS ejection. Ref was moving towards Pierce, too

ChoppedWood 01-04-2026 04:30 PM

These dudes in the stripes, man something has to change. Nacua was absolutely right, these fucks absolutely want to be TV stars.

I hate these fucking maggots.

nate505 01-04-2026 04:30 PM

Pretty lame ejection

Spike 01-04-2026 04:30 PM

Fuck the officials.

YDFL Commish 01-04-2026 04:30 PM

Absolutely BS call! Ref contacted Pierce!

Spike 01-04-2026 04:32 PM

I have such a disdain for these refs, penalty should have been enough. Ejection was complete bullshit.

Racehorse 01-04-2026 04:33 PM

Time for Mills to turn the ball over.

Colts And Orioles 01-04-2026 04:33 PM

Shades of 1980, when Walter Payton was ejected from a game for accidentally making contact with a referee in a game against the Falcons.

Payton actually tripped as he was running toward the referee to argue a call ...... when Payton stumbled, he grabbed the referee to keep himself upright, not to attack him ...... but it was still contact with a referee, and so he got the heave-ho.

albany ed 01-04-2026 04:42 PM

oops

YDFL Commish 01-04-2026 04:42 PM

Texicans have terrible fans...stadium half empty!

IndyNorm 01-04-2026 04:47 PM

How the fuck is the Texans' backup DL getting that much pressure on the QB against our starting OL? Maybe we should go after some of them in the offseason

Puck 01-04-2026 04:48 PM

Is that the first interception of the year that someone hasn't called for the QB to be benched or cut?

Racehorse 01-04-2026 04:57 PM

I know the clock matters, but going for a TD here would be fine

Racehorse 01-04-2026 04:58 PM

Grupe is perfect for us this year.

Hoopsdoc 01-04-2026 04:58 PM

Are you kidding me, Steichen? NOW you decide to go conservative? What the fuck.

Now we get to watch Houston kick a game winning field goal with no time left.

Good grief.
