Wasn't Irsay seriously addicted during the whole Pagano and Grigson hiring stage?

Not to make any excuses for him, but he probably thought that the 3 of them would be the next John, Paul and Ringo.

Irsay just got conned. I remember when Telesco left and kinda wondered why Irsay didn’t give the job to him instead of some nobody in Grigson. I wasn’t complaining too much because that first Grigson draft looked great. I still followed Telesco and their drafts who I thought year-in year-out were very good.

The Chargers has a bad injury bug the last couple years which killed their seasons. Still after about Grigson’s third draft and Telesco’s second, I started to see a superior pattern of picks out of the Chargers.

I think, at the time, Irsay was just ready to clean house and go in a whole new direction altogether, top to bottom, which is why Telesco did not get more of a chance

And then was not a bad idea at the time. It was just he botched the execution of it all and hired the wrong people as GM/coach to bring in as the new regime.

I think the difference between this past year and 2012 is that he sought out the opinion of a lot of respectable people around the league. Put in perspective the crappy job Grigson and Pagano were doing. But also helpedgwt second opinions on the up and coming people around the league.
