5 weeks ago, I made this post about what we need (and what we may or may not get) from Anthony Richardson in the long-run ...... and in order to see whether or not that will come to fruition, we would have to give Richardson at least another 2 full years as our starting quarterback. Quote:

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ With Richardson's mobility (and super-strength, which has made him one of the best QB tackle-breakers in recent memory), I think that we need him to evolve into about 85% of the quarterbacks that Philip Rivers was in his prime ...... that would make them about even, because Rivers was an immobile quarterback in his prime. And I would sign up for having the equivalent of a prime Philip Rivers in the long run any day of the week, and twice on Sundays (no pun intended, as obvious as it may have seemed.) o |

Wentz was clearly not it going forward, so the Colts were quick to part ways with him, and went the veteran route again with former Falcons’ quarterback Matt Ryan, following the same path that helped the Colts make the playoffs in 2020. It was all nice in theory, but in practice it never materialized, l as the offensive line issues nearly got Matt Ryan, and then Nick Foles, murdered, l and the Colts had their worst season since the 2-14 year that resulted in Andrew Luck. https://www.stampedeblue.com/2024/12...ent-fix-for-it o |

As for Mitchell, he seemed defensive to me, with false bravado. That is not a good look, but he is a rookie, who needs to accept blame for a play that he blew (he clearly didn't handle the ball well after he caught it, which led to the DB having just enough time to sniff out the actual play). He is immature, and tried to come off as confident, and able to do what was asked, which made it look to me as if he were blaming his coach for calling a bad play, but he executed it (and our playoff hopes, in the process). I would say "get him off my team", if he were not a rookie, who might develop and mature in time. |
I forgot to address the Franklin mess. It seems he is too much about self-promotion, and not a true team player. We need to address LB badly in the draft, because I think he might be the problem with our lack of leadership.

The article does indeed have 3 major errors, especially the one about Ballard. On numerous occasions, I have pointed out that Ballard was intent on building a roster that was not overly-dependent on a superstar QB. That's why I specifically only included the highlighted portion, and not the rest of it ...... the difference between the 2020 offensive line that Philip Rivers played behind was the antitheses of the offensive line that Matt Ryan (and later in the season, Nick Foles) played behind in 2022. Seeing Nick Foles convulsing on the ground while the Giants' linebacker celebrated the sack by bird-flapping right next to him encapsulated the 2022 Colts' offensive line's entire season. o |

I was there behind our bench and I could hear myself say out loud, "Oh, shit..."
I saw it before anyone could react. |
I am not giving up on this team though they need to sit 76, 81, 14, 11, 1, 99 and 45 for the rest of the season.

Kick in 7 for good measure.

Oh, btw...
That was a touchdown. |

It wasn’t shown during the game. It hasn’t been shown since. It’s just taken for granted that there was definite proof that that was a fumble. And no one seems to really be asking about it. It’s very weird. |

Guys like Zaire Franklin, Quenton Nelson, Johnathon Taylor and, to a lesser extent, Ryan Kelly and Braden Smith are not the same players they were before they got paid. Omaha always said Shaq Leonard was no leader but I think he was more of a leader than ANYONE we have now outside of maybe Deforest Buckner. |

Considering that very minor exception, I would take players like that on my team any day of the week. o |
