How quickly we all forget this defense held Buffalo to 6 points

Wentz will be the QB next year it was a shitty game all around even the Oline wasn’t blocking for shit I have no idea what happened to this team the last 2 games

Seems like COVID.

Wentz will be the QB next year and Reich will be the coach (with a new 5 yr deal)

I would love a new OC and DC that were more aggressive. Did we ever run a no huddle offense?

3rd and 13 to start the game and we give up a first down that my grandmother could have made.

3rd and 2 and we pass on a play that was so poorly executed and then run on 4th down.

4th and goal...if wentz keeps it and runs to the cone he scores easily. Just need to be smarter and design better and or quicker plays.

Maybe get some receivers.

How the fk do you come out play a game like that against Jax. It's like they knew they were going to lose and didn't want to be there. Fkn pussies. All of them.

I've been drinking since 7-0.

No heads will rolls. Same shit different year.

apballin 01-09-2022 10:05 PM

It fuckin sucks but we went from Wentz being out 10 games to him playing with no ankles to doorstep of the playoffs

Crazy ass season but we didn’t deserve to make the playoffs after these last 2 games but the last thing Reich needs is to start the season with a different QB again

Wentz & smart don't often collide in the same sentence.

Damn near any QB in the NFL. You obviously haven't been watching the Colts much down the stretch if you're asking that.

I thought winning money would help but GD this ruined my day and week. I don't even give a fk about next week.

And they put the steelers in the playoffs. that just makes it worse. I so hope for a tie tonight.

I hope pitt and ne lose by 40 and tb. fu brady.

Wentz is frustrating often, but there's not exactly an abundance of elite QB talent in the NFL. The best available option at the position is currently on a division rival and who knows when the NFL would allow him to play next, but they're still asking a king's ransom for him. The next best option is coming off an injury riddled season that saw a sharp decline in performance and his team has already said they won't trade him. The best free agent option has been just as quixotic and frustrating as Wentz throughout his career. And you won't likely find a starter at pick 46 in the draft.

It doesn't matter. They'll be better than Wentz. They're not good, but cheap hot dogs are better than dog shit.

How about Tyrod Taylor? At least we might be able to beat the mighty Jagoffs with him.

Andy Dalton might be available, at one time this guy was very good but on a very bad team....if the Colts improve the D a little more, and get one more good receiver, the QB just needs to be adequate, but a good game manager and cool under pressure! Considering the Bears have Fields, I believe Dalton could be available for a reasonable price? Might Wentz benefit from a veteran QB presence on the team?

Two soulless gingers on the same team? That would rip a hole in the football universe.

Dalton sucks, but he's better than Wentz. And he's a UFA.

Daulton isn't better than Wentz. Daulton is a fkn turd!!!

Wentz was 26 and 6 before today. I don't know what he ended because I stopped watching.

80% of you were in love with Wentz at 9 and 6!

We could do a lot worse!!!!!!!!

Winning fixes everything. They lost so we are doing this.

It’s become painfully obvious that the Colts won in spite of Wentz, mostly on the legs of Taylor.

I should have known after the 2nd Titans game that Wentz wasn’t the answer. He singlehandedly lost that game.

I’ve never seen a guy who shrinks more in the big moments than Wentz. He just doesn’t have what it takes. Million dollar talent, ten cent head.

ChaosTheory 01-10-2022 12:02 AM

Most likely Ehlinger will have to beat out Wentz for us to move on.

I said it earlier and it's been mentioned... This defensive scheme isn't going to stop anyone, let alone anyone good, without some pass rush that doesn't look like pushing the sled.

When Lawrence was 15/17 I kept thinking back to Brees' 29/30, Minshew's 19/20, Jackson's 37/43, etc... Even Carr last week, aside from two outstanding INTs on D, he still completed something like 83%.

I know it's not the same scheme... But Dungy used to say that the idea was to prevent the big play and give up plays in front of you forcing long drives. Increasing the odds of the QB making a bad throw or the four DL getting home and creating inconvertible down and distance

Well, even young guys nowadays are too good to rely on bad throws during pitch and catch. And our down four don't include Freeney/Mathis or Rice/Sapp.

Dewey 5 01-10-2022 12:05 AM

Not only did the Eagles fleece Ballard they also made the playoffs.

Scheme ain’t gonna matter when you’re missing 4 starters on defense and your down to practice squad guys playing DB

That's true. And Kenny Chesney was forced to play against BAL when Jackson went off and we lost. To be fair, I'm actually not against this kind of scheme.

My ultimate point is these kinds of schemes tend to require non-blitzing pressure which we don't possess. And my perception at least, is that we too often make QBs look better than they are. Maybe I'm wrong.

I go back and watch random Colts games from the 2000's from time to time and the pass-rush on those teams is jarring in comparison.

That would be great, but who is that guy and who does he know, or is he just someone trying to get clicks?

Also, even if true, people will calm down in the coming weeks and minds can change when that happens.

I wish, but Frank is his cushion, so long as Frank is here; "yeah you know Chris I hear what you are saying but I also him every single day in practice and let me tell you he can throw it with the best of them. Remember that TD to Patmon in the back of the end zone, that's Carson, that's Carson. I think if we just, well if you just let me work with him a little more, I really think Carson could be in the PB next year, probably MVP even. He is that good Chris. Jim, I know you love this guy's character too, you've seen him out at the food bank, that's a good guy, and he just had a baby, and ya know he had that Covid thing, so he's had a lot going on. Plus he played through those ankle injuries for us, he's a real warrior out there. So my vote is we keep him, give him another shot. Next year, I swear to God I will not have a stretch where I have him throw it 26 times straight. I won't do that, that was stupid. If you let me have him again this year, in game 3, I will have him throw it on every play- yes, all of them, because the defensive coordinator won't expect that and I am smart so yeah".

o

They made the playoffs, but they got their asses handed to them for the 2nd time this season by the Cowboys, and they wound up having an identical record as the Colts (9-8.)

If the Colts had gotten into the playoffs after yesterday's loss (and it nearly happened, as the Steelers and the Ravens almost finished their game in a tie), I suspect that the vast majority of Colts fans would not be particularly proud of their qualifying after the back-to-back losses that they sustained to end the regular season.

There is really a vast number of things that this team needs to do to stay afloat. Before I address those things, a few points about the season:

1) I have said since week 3 that Frank needs to relinquish his play calling duties. He called a few nice games but overall really fucked this team over as a whole by his stubborn, bone-headed, predictably unpredictable play calling. By seasons end, this become SO obvious.

2)We should have made the smart decision while we had the chance/excuse to do so....we Should have opened this season with Wentz on IR. He was injured. If we had done that, we could have also sat him for the week he got COVID and we would have had our top 20 pick back, insured ourselves against the (inevitable) chance that Wentz turned out to be the turd he is, and also saved face in regards to the optics of sitting Wentz for a legitimate reason. Shit we lost the first 4 games anyway.

3)Our receiving targets are shit. Pittman is a solid WR2. We need a WR1, WR3, TE 1 AND TE2.

4)We need 2 solid corners and a pass rusher on D, maybe 2. And a more aggressive scheme. that's about it.

In my view, and literally the only thing that can assist to helping us out of this mess, is:

TRADE BIG Q! TRADE BIG Q! Use the money elsewhere for his contract, attain likely a first rounder, and have Chris Reid take his spot.

I love Q, but he is expendable and we have proven to be okay without him in the lineup. Literally the only guy right now that might score us a high pick back.

We also MUST bring in a veteran QB to compete for the starter spot next year ALA Dalton, Minshew, etc.

Free Agents that I would try and bring in are:
Winston, Foles, Mariota, Trubisky. All somewhat young and could possibly pull a Tannehill and re emerge.

I "got my Sunday back" yesterday. Didn't watch the game, didn't have a drop of beer all day (typically start beer drinking early on Sundays during football season), spent a couple of hours working to get ready for the work week, sat down and had nice, big dinner with the wife and kids, and was in bed and asleep at 8:30.

Woke up at 4:30 this morning after a very restful 8-hours, and have more energy and exuberance on a Monday morning that I've had in a long time.

Think I may have to "have my Sundays back" more next year during football season. I don't see the results being much different unless Wentz finally figures out how to be a competent QB and we can develop a pass rush. Same shit, different season this year...a .500-ish team who beats a couple of legit teams, has a few major chokejobs, and a couple of inexcusable losses to bad teams. I'm sure it'll be wash, rinse, and repeat next year as long as Wentz is our QB and we don't upgrade at WR on offense and edge and secondary on defense.

That turd Glowinski is a free agent and they’re idiots if they resign him. He’s been the weak link on the line since he’s been here. They need to put Reed there and sign/draft someone to compete with him for the job.

Trading Nelson is never gonna happen.

In hindsight, this would have been a brilliant move, not sure it is fair to expect anyone to have done it, not having a better backup QB made it almost impossible to do....I also like bringing in a veteran, and I agree that one of those younger QBs could flourish under the right circumstances!

That seems weird since Glowinski was the highest graded player on the line all year. He's the only one who didn't regress.

I don’t know what kind of grading system they’re using but it’s not good. Glowinski sucked most of the year.

Drewtone 01-10-2022 12:53 PM

Glow was a habitual holder last year, but I thought was improved this year...

Oldcolt 01-10-2022 01:14 PM

The problem isn't going to be cured by trading the best offensive lineman in football for a high draft choice. And Irsay will never trade Nelson.

MeSayDayo 01-10-2022 01:39 PM

I didn't propose that this would cure the wound but it sure would make it hurt less.

I ask you this: With the current construct of this roster, do YOU want to pay an Offensive Guard (As good as Nelson is, generationally good) almost 20 million a year?
Because that is what it will cost to retain him going forward.
OR we can resign Glowinski for 2 years and Reid for 2 or 3 years at probably 15 million combined maybe even 10.
Not to mention the fact that we could get a 1st round pick for Q, maybe even more. Think the Eagles would give up Minshew and a 1st for Nelson? I do. And I think out team would be better off for it.

The extra 10 million that we save could be spent on a corner, on a WR, or a TE. Or dare I say an extra Veteran QB like Mariota, Trubisky or Winston? We need someone to compete with Wentz to be the starter. Someone that is young with some upside.
