Wentz's contact would be about the same as what we paid Rivers. Quote:

Ballard won't overpay. He will not get into a bidding war. . Ballard has also shown he has patience. He isn't in half the hurry that I am. If Chicago wants him my guess is they will outbid us. If that happens, good.

People thought Q shouldn't be drafted at 6
People didn't think we should have taken the Maniac People thought Smith was a reach People didn't think we should trade the 13th for Buckner People didn't think we should have signed Rivers People didn't think we needed to draft a RB and they got JT The list goes on and on, But if anyone is still doubting Ballard it's crazy. The guys hit rate is ridiculous. Relax and let them do their thing. They know way more than we do. |

If our options are Go with brissett and keep draft picks to bolster the team or Give up picks for Wentz or Darnold I’d rather have the picks |
I can't believe we are at a place where people think Brissett should be in the mix for starter. It would be a throw away season again.

Brissett is a great back up. I don't dislike the guy, I think he is an excellent number two man, just not as a starter.

I am still thinking it is one of: Dalton, Trubisky or Newton on a 2-year, $18-20m contract to show us if they deserve a longer / more lucrative one, to see if Easton is ready or to find the next long term QB.

Well, the Jets finally traded Darnold. Sam is headed to Carolina. And the Jets accepted a lot less draft capital for Darnold vs what the Colts traded for Wentz.

The only question I have is - what are the Chicago Bears doing? I know that there are question marks with Darnold - but they couldn't top Carolina's offer? Or are they going to try to acquire Bridgewater now for even less than this offer? |
I was on the Darnold bandwagon for a long time and wanted him not Wentz for the Colts. I just hope I was dead wrong about this.

We may pay a little bit more for Wentz or a lot more (1st rather than 2nd). I think in the end we will have gotten a steal with Wentz. I am not sure what everyone loves about Darnold, other than his arm-which is good but so is Wentz's. Time will tell but Ballard was smart not to draft Darnold in the first place (brilliant if you factor in who he got in return). I think he will be seen as smart to not go after him now also.

When Andrew Luck is your QB, you don't draft a QB. Had Ballard known at the time of the draft that Luck was done, it might have gone a lot differently. |

I think we will do well with wentz and in the end this trade will be graded very favorably. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Time will tell how this works out. The panthers actually have a pretty good team besides the QB.
The only thing I can really say is that Wentz and Reich already have a good working relationship. And that we know Wentz is capable of playing at a really high level. |
