That type of stuff is not unusual at all in the NFL.

In 2008, the Colts beat the Chargers on their home-field AND they also had a much better overall record than them (the Colts were 12-4, and the Chargers were 8-8), and they still played their subsequent playoff game in San Diego because the Chargers won their division.

In 2010, the Saints went 11-5 and had to play their 1st-round playoff game in Seattle because the 7-9 Seahawks won their division.

Those are just 2 of countless examples of those types of happenings since the advent of the 16-game schedule in 1978.

All right, 28-6 Bills!

Posted too late. Should have said "end zone", lol.

Spike 01-03-2021 03:30 PM

Josh Allen is a beast.

TheMugwump 01-03-2021 03:32 PM

28 - 6 Bills. I know they'll rest Allen and Diggs. I hope they keep most of their defensive starters in though.

In the modern era, it is quite uncommon for 11-5 or 10-6 teams to miss the playoffs. I feel the Dolphins are more deserving than whoever wins the NFC East and the Cardinals at the very least.

Dewey 5 01-03-2021 03:36 PM

Bills will begin pulling starters in the 2nd half. Hope the Bills can hang on.

Spike 01-03-2021 03:36 PM

Tua sucks.

o

10-6 teams missing the playoffs in the modern era is not uncommon. 21 10-6 teams have missed the post-season since 1978, including the Redskins 3 times (1979, 1985, and 1989.)

You can feel bad for the Dolphins all you want. I suspect that not too many other people besides yourself care, including many Dolphins fans who are probably extremely pissed at their team for playing so poorly in the 1st half today.

More like 1 every 2 years. Now how many 10-6 teams have made the playoffs in that timespan? I'd imagine the answer is a lot more.

50% of years, not 50% of 10-6 teams.

nate505 01-03-2021 03:56 PM

Damn, PI in the endzone on Buffalo on a 4th and Goal, then gives up a TD.

Buffalo up 21.

If the Bills could get at least a field goal here and push it back to a 3-possession game, that would be great.

Pick 6 Buffalo, hell Yeah!!!

nate505 01-03-2021 04:07 PM

The bad news...touchdown Browns.

The good news...TOUCHDOWN BILLS!!!

nate505 01-03-2021 04:16 PM

Looks like the Steelers are starting to implode. Glad they can replace the Patriots as a team I completely detest.

On the plus side the Fish just turned the ball over on downs.

Yeah, fuck the Steelers, wasn't counting on those bastards anyway.

Replace? The Steelers have always been #2 on my list, right behind the Cheaters. That won't change until Belicheat and Brady are banned from football and its history.

Hoopsdoc 01-03-2021 04:19 PM

It would be the most Colts thing ever to get a gift from Buffalo and then lose to Jacksonville and miss the playoffs anyway.

Would you say that the Olympics are uncommon? They happen once every two years.

I'd say that a 10-6 team missing the playoffs every other season is pretty...common.

nate505 01-03-2021 04:21 PM

Dang, Allen throws a pick. Deep in their territory, so at least the Fish have to march for points.

Allen didn't throw the pick, it was Barkley.

Dewey 5 01-03-2021 04:28 PM

Miami was driving & Tua just threw a pick.

Spike 01-03-2021 04:30 PM

Tua throws an INT, hell yeah!

Yeah, I wasn't even paying attention to the number...oops.

But on the bright side, the Fish gave it right back up.

TheMugwump 01-03-2021 04:30 PM

If/When Indy gets into the playoffs, should they send Tua a share?

Spike 01-03-2021 04:31 PM

Thank you Buffalo and fuck you Pittsburgh.
