(OCTOBER 18th) I'm hoping that the 21-point deficit and subsequent comeback winds up being a turning point to the 2020 season for the Colts. In a sense, the Colts got the best of both worlds yesterday ...... they got a wake-up call by being made to look like garbage by an (at-best) mediocre team like the Bengals beating their asses for the first 25% of the game, yet they managed to escape with a win by playing much better in the final 75%. For some reason, it took the Colts half the game to start playing well against the Browns, and it took them one-quarter of the game for them to start playing well against the Bengals. They are extremely fortunate to have escaped those games with a split, and now it's on Reich to solve the mystery as to why they have had trouble playing focused football starting from the opening gun ...... that's what coaches do, and this is Reich's chance to shine by coming up with some kind of solution. o |

This is great ........ except that the schedule gets considerably harder pretty soon. After the Lions game in 2 weeks, the Colts have 4 consecutive "loseable" games. RAVENS: l... Lamar Jackson and Company TITANS: lllll. Currently Undefeated PACKERS: lll Aaron Rodgers and Company TITANS: llll.. Currently Undefeated After that run, the only really tough game remaining appears to be the one against the Steelers ...... although we do have 2 games against the Texans, whom despite their 1-5 record are always a potential nightmare with DeShaun Watson running rings around opposing defenses. The Titans found that out on Sunday, when they were nearly handed their first loss of the season by the boys from southeast Texas. I just hope that we survive that upcoming 4-game run, which is crucial to the team's chances for a playoff berth. I suppose that we'll find out just how well Philip Rivers' resourcefulness and the Colts' defense really measure up against the top-flight teams of the NFL in that span. The Lions game is essentially a must-win, considering what looms threateningly on the horizon for the 2020 Colts. o |

(NOVEMBER 1st) The Bengals lost to the Colts 2 weeks ago, and beat the Titans this week ...... "Thank You" cards are in the mail. o |

I think that the first portion of the title of this article is the most important message that Reich can give to this team going forward ...... the Colts won't make excuses for Titans Bludgeoning. Colts Won't Make Excuse for Titans Bludgeoning, but They Deserve to Be Excused (By Jim Ayello) https://www.indystar.com/story/sport...ve/6456168002/ o |

Trying to be as objective as a rabid Colts fan can be, I have a sense that many AFC contending teams view the 2020 Colts as "a team that we wouldn't mind avoiding in the playoffs." In addition to their solid 9-4 overall record, I believe that the close, hard-fought win over the Packers last month caught many teams' (and fans of those teams) attention. So while it's still quite possible that the Colts either don't make the playoffs in the first place, or that they get eliminated in the post-season prior to the AFC Championship game, I believe that the other side of that same coin (a scenario in which the Colts make the playoffs AND advance at least to the AFC Championship game) is also very much in play. o |
I think the teams that SHOULD want to avoid Indy in the playoffs are Buffalo and Pittsburgh. Buffalo because I can see Josh Allen throwing three or four picks against this D, and Pittsburgh because they have no run game right now, and I think a one-dimensional offense isn't going to do well against the Colts the way they have been playing (especially in the second half).
I would like the Colts to avoid Cleveland and (obviously) KC, if they can, for as long as possible. |

This team has a mental hurdle they need to clear to beat Pittsburgh. They've proven they can beat Kansas City. |

(DECEMBER 21st) The Steelers just lost to the Bengals. The Steelers just went 4 consecutive games of scoring less than 20 points. The last time that that happened while Ben Roethlisberger was their starting quarterback was ...... in 2004, his rookie season. The table is set for the Colts. They can beat the Steelers and still have a realistic shot at the #2 or the #3 seed, or they can lose and have to (likely) settle for a Wildcard berth. o |

The Bengals did their part in losing to the Colts and beating the Titans ...... now, we need the Packers to do theirs. o |

The Titans are on the road for their final 2 games of the season ...... in Wisconsin, and in southeastern Texas. As upset as we all are about blowing a 17-point lead against the Steelers just now, it's still a reasonable possibility that the Colts still wind up winning the division. The Texans have a lousy 4-11 record, but with DeShaun Watson taking the snaps they are not a pushover. The Titans needed overtime earlier in the season to beat them. o |

The Colts finished the 2020 season with a record of 11 wins and 5 losses, and claimed the #7 seed for the playoffs. Not bad, not great. o |
