There appears to be no communication between what Ballard wants and what the coaching staff wants (i'm talking defense here). Our last two second round picks have had a hell of a time finding the field. Steichen today insinuated Allen isn't on the field because he isn't mentally up to it quite yet. Ballard thought he was the most NFL ready LB available and everyone seemed to think he would be calling our defensive plays, everybody except the guy that runs our defense. No way you can build anything if you keep missing this big on high defensive choices. Zack Hicks pointed out out that Ballard seems to think Latu is or can be a super star edge rusher but Lou doesn't seem to play him like that, using him more of a strong side contain rusher (which he is pretty good at). There appears to be a disconnect going on and it is frustrating to see. Winning organizations are all on the same page.

Bitching is fine. The amount of energy put into that conversation is far too much hate, IMHO. That's why I asked.

Absolutely, he has been wreckless as hell in the first quarter of the season. Unfortunately our D, with all these alleged ballhawks on the back end, don't do shit to help level the count.

Everyone is entitled to post here. Be it their opinion on the team, the management or imaginary scenarios. You're also entitled to post your opinion to the post. Both fit into the rules of the board.

I’d rather see Curry get the reps

I agree. I just thought his post was childish.

When one of our own criticizes the team, management, a coach or a player; we may disagree but that's the beauty of this board. We have our in fights, but down deep, we know we're all in love with this team.

If a troll comes here and knocks the team, management, a coach or a player; we don't just disagree, we unite against the scumbag. And to me, that's the real beauty of this board.

There is a difference between criticizing the team and pulling your pants down and taking a shit every time that you say something ...... after a while the feces piles up and it gets nauseating, regardless of who the defecator is rooting for to win football games.

I agree. That is why I am calling him out for being a petulant child about it. That is what you described in your first paragraph.

I say petulant child because a realist knows only one team wins it all every year. A realist knows that some teams always suck and finish with a top five draft pick. A realist knows that there is a lot of luck involved in winning and losing (a game of inches, they say). A realist knows injuries play a huge part in the lucky thing, because you never know which team will lose key players and which will finish the season with enough to win it all.

I get the frustration about not winning the division in quite some time. I hate it, too. I also get the frustration of not winning a playoff game in five or six years, but there are franchises who win one playoff game every ten to twenty years. We are not them. Yeah, we all hate the murky middle, but I prefer to see my team win more than they lose, instead of hoping for an 0-17 season to get the top pick. It worked out well for us twice (Manning and Luck were true studs), but there have been far more busts at that pick. I mean, if we say the Titans, Jets or Browns are in a better spot because they have the top pick all the time, then we are wrong. They still suck. Jacksonville seems to be the only one who got the top pick very often that has shown progress with it.

People act as if saying something bad about the Colts is like shitting on your family. Some of us agree totally with his sentiment, if not with how he decides to present it. Big deal. With all the shit revolving around the Colts (or last 3 second round draft picks have been a disaster, DJ is turning the ball over at an incredible rate, our pass rush is in big trouble, and the incredible disconnect between who we draft and who the coaches play and develop to name a few) the only active thing on this board is people thinking Chopped is to hard or immature in his disgust for what we are going through as a team. I have not seen one post saying he is wrong.

ChoppedWood 10-09-2026 05:29 PM

Appreciate all the banter. I am admittedly, perhaps the most conflicted person I know, and that's saying something with some of the strange messed up people I associate with.

I know I come across as extreme, and yes, I am quite extreme in a lot of ways. But, it is a manifest of passion. I do have great passion for this team. I love this franchise, I give it equally as much positive energy when good things happen as I do raging fury when shit goes bad. I am confident that at games where I am giving it hell, few can run aside me- and if they do, I will probably just shoulder check them into the 2nd row and chug a beer over them for the fucking fun of it!

Sadly for me, the quantity lately has been so damn heavy on the negative side. I do not understand at all the plan, nothing seems to be well choreographed, nothing seem strategic, nothing seems to make any sense. I really don't feel like it has, since dumb ass Ballard has been behind the wheel. Decisions seem either completely telegraphed with no real structure to support the decision (AR), or they seem completely fucking overthought and lacking any type of vision (bringing Rivers in for a few games last year because "he knows the system"...). When you go below him, at least for me, I just see more of his confused and unscheduled vision. Who the fuck drafts a LB in the 2nd round who was championed as a leadership ready plug and play guy, and then the DC basically says he sucks and isn't worthy of being on the field---- AND THEN COUPLE THAT WITH THE GUYS THAT ARE PLAYING----- SUCK? Who the FUCK does that other than this incredibly ill fitted group of idiots? Yeah, my silly hypothetical conversation is wayyyyyy over the top, but damn we look like an SNL skit in the real world of the NFL!

I've been in some very significant organizations, and some pretty sizable roles with big responsibilities. I have seen the good and been able to recognize when leadership is so good that you KNOW things are going to work out because they are just that good. Conversely I have seen the bad. I have seen the dysfunction reach levels where basically each day you show up, go in your office, lock the door, pretend you are busy for as long as you can stomach being their that day, collect a pay check, go home and just sort of laugh at how incredibly fucked up things are. To me, that's this version of the Colts. A terribly dysfunctional union of people that aren't very good at leading and in turn, all the people and things they are responsible for, reflect that huge leadership deficit at the top. My over the top idiocy is essentially just a very loud vote of no confidence. People need to be fired for being this shitty over an evidentiary period that proves this isn't a fluke, this is who the fuck they are!
