9ers have had a hell of an injury plague this year as well. They are very much in contention for the # 1 seed in the NFC.

Depth matters. Playing to your strengths also matters.

It doesn’t matter how smart you are if defenses can effectively ignore everything more than 15 yards downfield. You can’t give NFL defenses that kind of advantage.

There’s a part of me that wishes we had just rode it out with Leonard.

Personally, I think that part of Rivers problem vs Seattle, beyond the fact that the Seahawks are pretty good, was that he didn’t have much practice time with his receivers. I’m not sure how much the experience of a full game and three extra practices will help, but I have to assume that he’s somewhat farther along in building rapport with his teammates than he was a week ago.

The real problem isn’t his lack of arm strength. It is possible for a Quarterback to succeed using a short and intermediate passing game. The bigger problem is the absence of both bookend Offensive Tackles. Pittman, Pierce, Downs, and company might not have time to work their way open before an immobile Rivers is inundated by pass rushers.

Colts win tonight

49ers defense isn’t on the level of any defense this team has played in the last month. It’s time for Taylor to get back on track

Colts will score more than 20 tonight

Colts 27

49ers 17

I didn’t hear no bell!! Win out you sons of bitches cuz jimmy loves you!!

Win for Jim!

You’re right that missing the tackles is going to be a problem. And you can be successful with a short and intermediate passing game. But there has to be at least the POSSIBILITY of a deep ball or the defense will just compress and attack everything, because they don’t have to worry about someone getting behind them. And at this point Rivers isn’t capable of throwing deep.

Steichen might be able to conjure up something with smoke and mirrors but the Colts aren’t going anywhere if Rivers can’t throw it deep.

Yeah, but…the devil is in the details.

The 49’ers started 4-1, then feasted against one of the easiest schedules in the league. Their last 6 wins came against a string of bottom feeders with a cumulative 25 wins. Since they beat the Rams in week 5, they’ve faced 2 opponents above .500 and lost those games by a total of 27 points.

We are down the 2 tackles. But 9ers defense is not as good as Seattle and they lack a pass rush

Rivers should have more time to get the ball out. Not saying it is a given, but not sure we will win but I am not counting the Colts out.
