Any ideas why?

Probably need to sign some free agents with all the injuries to defense and PK

Hopefully to trade for Trey Hendrickson, but they would need to clear another $3.5 million to be able to afford his remaining cap hit.

Plus, more to sign players as we get injuries.

Who knows, but I bet there is a plan to go out and pick up somebody at a position of need. I have the felling that Carlie don't mess around, and is intent on making us better.

Of note, this is now the second time Ballard had made use of the "void years" in a contract. Previously, he used it on Buckner's contact extension in 2024.

Overall, I am not a huge fan of using void years because the team loses cap space / flexibility in future years. However, I completely understand using them for short term relief if you think you are in a "THIS year" year.

Not too much pushed forward yet but if you start seeing us go the way of the Eagles who have pushed void years into almost everyone of their contracts, then I think of the phrase from Price is Right...."that's too much, Bob."

This is a couple of folks talking about how we may spend that money. I found it interesting, they are high on Edwards.
