Much has been said about the need to establish an identity. Since the bye we have had sufficient time to do so. I, however, am at a loss for words to describe our team succinctly. Someone help me out here.

So far the identity is a bad football team that happened to be some good teams.

Another vote for power run team here. Who can argue with that strategy.

It's quite obvious that we're a power rushing team...that's what Grigs, Pags, and Pep keep telling us, so it must be true.

Somehow I think the word"rudderless" should figure prominently in the description.

The team has taken on the identity of its GM...one giant blob of incompetence.

Funny to think that we are meant to be a "monster".

Reminds me of that line from "Monsters vs Aliens"

Dr. Roach Ph.D.: [about B.O.B] Forgive him, but as you can see, he has no brain.

B.O.B.: Turns out, you don't need one. Totally overrated! As a matter of fact, I don't even...

[starts gasping for air]

B.O.B.: I forgot how to breathe! Don't know how to breathe! Help me, Doctor Roach! Help! Help!

Dr. Roach Ph.D.: Suck in, B.O.B.

B.O.B.: [breathes normally] Thanks, Doc. You're a life saver.

Hmmmm.....just change the "I forgot how to breathe" to:

"I forgot how to game plan...." = Pep and Manusky

"I forgot how to coach...." = the entire coaching staff

"I forgot how to evaluate player talent....." = everyone in the Colts organization

"I forgot how to......well, everything...." = Jim Irsay after an all night bender

Cheers,

.
Both resilient and inconsistent.

In spite of getting the s*** kicked out of them by average teams such as the Rams, the Cardinals, and the Chargers, they have bounced back each time to win the following week (with next week's pending), and still have not lost two games in a row in the almost 2 years since Andrew Luck was acquired/drafted before the 2012 season.

Inconsistent ...... again, getting the s*** kicked out of them by the Rams and the Cardinals, and losing pretty soundly to the Chargers, yet they have beaten teams like the Broncos and the Seahawks, and pounded the 49ers on their homefield.

A hard team to get grasp of what they are all about, and very fortunate to be playing in a very weak division.

makes you wonder just how much the loss of Wayne, ballard, Bradshaw, Allen, etc. has had on this team. If the offense is able to move the ball, the defense has a bigger margin for error. Offensive futility leads to more time on the field and more errors due to fatigue.

Certainly it hurts, but it's concerning that:

1. They aren't adjusting. They're just asking someone else to be Dwayne Allen, basically. Instead of re-tooling or re-focusing the offense, they're running on "next man up", which you can't do at some point.

2. The defense is still largely intact (only Toler was missing y'day), and they are offering virtually no resistance. Coming out shell-shocked and poorly-prepared, allowing big plays, dropping INTs, etc. I'll buy injuries as a qualifier for offensive performance, but not defensive. This is just a poorly-coached unit playing with no heart or purpose right now, totally going through the motions. At some point, the defense has to take some of the burden off the struggling offense, and they just pile more on when they allow these quick 14+ point deficits because nobody can be bothered to cover WRs down the field.

3. Half the reason, on offense, they fall into these slow starts and three-and-out holes is that they refuse to make meaningful changes. Trent Richardson is terrible, yet remains starting at RB and turning 10-yard gains into 2-yard gains, putting the Colts behind the downs every opening drive. Mike McGlynn is terrible, and yet remains unchallenged by Joe Reitz or Jeff Linkenbach. David Reed offers nothing, yet remains active over others. You can see where I'm going with this. They operate on "the team they should be" and not "the team they are". And it contributes to these early deficits.

Decimated by injuries, playing **** scrub 3rd stringers and expecting production, that's the identity.

Even the players dont know their identity:
Quote:
“Sometimes it’s like we’re not watching the same Colts team we saw before,” defensive lineman Ricky Jean Francois said. “These last five games, we’ve got to establish some kind of identity, whatever it is.
