OK so more reading about Wink. He runs a 3-4 D. Not gonna happen here. Irsay Ballard have both said 4-3

Not gonna look up the articles. You can

Even though the Colts base is a 4-2-5. which can be ran out of 4-3 or 3-4

Not gonna happen

This position with the Colts is VERY appealing to any coordinator out there
(Thank you Flus for that)

My sights are moving towards Richards. He is the definition of what the Colts want to be

We shall see.

Still think we are gonna miss Flus. Hope I am wrong. But that dude made the most of what he had

A couple of weeks ago, Ballard said that the distinction between 34 and 43 was blurring because they all ended up in a 4 man front. It’s referenced on Friday mornings Kevin and Query show.

But, speculation in NY is that Wink is headed there to be Daboll’s DC.

Colts might have no way to generate pressure other than blitzing. That is, unless you think that Paye and Odeyingbo are gonna morph into Freeney and Mathis.

I think IF the two young DEs they drafted this year improve their pass rush skills, the entire D is going to be better. Schemes only go so far. If they cant get more QB pressure/sacks the D coordinator wont matter

Morph? No way!

Develop? Good possibility.

Not just against the Jagoffs, against everyone. We need to bring in someone who's scheme doesn't call for giving the opponent receiver's 15 yards of cushion on every single 3rd and long.

Agree, either would be great. And unless they're in line for a HC job they'd probably take our DC job. Although they probably wouldn't plan on being here too long.

I really think you guys should investigate Wink Martindale.

All the coaches that have been mentions run the exact same D as Flus.

Cover 3..... Only real difference is the 3rd/4th down scheme.

Wink blitzes A LOT!

Obviously need some players to accomplish this. So with no matter who it is. Expect Ballard to do a lot to bring in more D talent. And that means less for the offense. Just sayin. be careful what you wish for

Here is a real good site to see what all teams play. It is from 2020. But the idea is still there

3rd and 4th down (or at least 3rd/4th and long) is where we really need improvement.

Eberflus may wind up taking much of this year's defensive staff with him to Chicago.

The Bears are targeting Colts safeties coach Alan Williams as their defensive coordinator, per sources. Interview process still ongoing. But Williams — the onetime Vikings DC — is a logical fit to follow Matt Eberflus from Indianapolis.

Who will win a playoff game first? Eberflus and the Bears or the Colts?
