Default Can Chris Ballard pull a cat out of the Matt Ryan hat?

Conventional wisdom tells us that Ballard will have to release Ryan and eat the $18 Million in dead money. But, what if he’s able to pull a rabbit out of his hat and convince someone to trade for Ryan?

As always,, the demand for Quarterbacks exceeds supply. A partial list of teams in the market includes the Jets, Carolina, the Raiders, Washington, and Tampa Bay. Assume that Rodgers returns to Green Bay, Tannehill stays in Tennessee, Jones stays in NY, and Baltimore holds onto Jackson.

Free Agency starts at the beginning of next week, and the QB chips will start to fall. Within the first 24 hours, 2 or 3 General Managers will be looking at the bleak prospect of life without a viable option at the most important position on the field.

Some of them will, inevitably, think of Ryan, and their hope will be to get him after he’s cut. But, Ballard is playing his cards close to the vest, implying that they might bring Matty Ice back as a bridge player. Ballard doesn’t have to cut Ryan until next Saturday, and that’s 3 days for someone who thinks that they’re only a Quarterback away from contention to watch their options dwindle.

If he were to be traded it likely wouldn’t be to someone whho is a QB away, it would be someone buying draft picks with cap space. I can’t see Ballard giving up a 2nd or 3rd for cap space though even if you found someone willing.

I mean, getting someone to trade for Wentz was a stroke of genius, especially considering he was going to be cut if he wasn’t traded.

But this would be a magic trick.

Ryan is washed up. He is done.

Last year, Ballard got a team to take Carson Wentz off of our hands ....... after pulling that Houdini act, nothing would surprise me.

If he does it would be a genius move, but I am not holding my breath, Wentz had interest because he was still within the age range of bein a prime QB. Ryan is EOL.

Shouldn't it say "rabbit" instead of "cat"?

Sorry, spent the afternoon with family, hooked into reading Dr Seuss to a favorite niece…she likes Green Eggs And Ham, too.
