Default Luck's arm

Stop stressing.

Here's why he wasn't in the game.

I’m not stressing about Lucks arm (yet), certainly not from that decision. But I’m not sure why this would erase anyone’s concerns if they had them. It says Brissett went in because his arm is stronger. Pretty much what everyone already knew and why some see it as concerning considering the shoulder history.

You aren't, but there were quite a few jumping the gun in the game thread. There's a few good quotes in the story.

I'm ok with it. Brisset has a freaking cannon. I don't even know if before the injury Luck's arm was as strong. As he said Luck could probably go 60-80 when completely healthy. But I think Brisset could do 100.

I think Luck's arm will get stronger as the season goes on. But I see next year as 100% past the injury and then had a long time working those throwing muscles and getting the arm in shape.

Luck has only been throwing full-on NFL football for what 2 months? I am ok with this, he is relearning how to throw and I am ok with working him back in. I considered this season a wash from the get-go with Luck coming back after so long off and so many new players and coaches. So far everything is far exceeding my expectations.

IMO, it's all on Luck. Sometimes you can tell that he's just trying to finesse the ball in there, and others he let's it rip.

In other words, I still think that he's in adjustment mode, both to his new team mates, new coaches, new playbook, new mechanics and new arm.

It may take a few more weeks before we see a truly confident Andrew Luck. The trust in all listed above, is just not there yet, at least on a consistent basis.

I'm beginning to be concerned. I saw him make a sideline throw that required zip and he threw it about as well as a high schooler. It's a throw that always requires zip and never finesse. Something as a QB, he's known his whole life.

Man, I hope I'm wrong, but I'm beginning to think he may never be 100%.

Agree w/a lot of this. He was on a pitch count the entire offseason, and he did not participate the full offseason either. He was limited in preseason. He's only had 3 games.

That said, I'll feel a lot better when he proves he can throw a Bruce Arians-era downfield pass to Hilton on a rope.

I also think he needs to dig in harder on the mental side. He is clearly a smart person. I don't think he has clearly proven to be a smart QB. He's not stupid. His game is not full of bad decisions. But he does make too many of them. He locks on too much. He throws into what should be obvious coverage. He doesn't anticipate defenders like he should. His mental game is not at all on part with Manning, Brady, Brees, Rogers. He's not a young man anymore, this is a part of his game that needs to grow.

I think he is too trusting in his ability to make the throw, no matter who is in the way. He will learn, hopefully, that NFL defenders are fast... very fast
