Zaire had been really hoping for a new deal.

He didn’t wanna say it publicly but he made it clear he’d earned it.

Prior to this, Franklin was scheduled to make a $2.88 million base salary this season, the last year of what he once described as a "special teams contract" because it was signed before he became a full-time starter.

That is good news. In today's salary cap amounts, $10m a year for a tackling machine like Franklin is a good deal for the team.

I am glad that they found a LB that they wanted to extend instead of let walk.
