I think so too. But I can see the evidence against him.
Didn't get many tackles, didn't play the run much. Julius Peppers, Michael Strahan, John Abraham, Jason Taylor, Demarcus Ware, and Terrell Suggs are all ahead of him on the all-time sack list and were active around the same time. If he gets in I doubt it'll be 1st ballot. Freeney is probably my favorite all-time player so don't take this as me being critical of him. |

I believe that there is a very good chance that the Colts would have won 2 Super Bowls in the Peyton Manning/Bill Polian era had Freeney not badly twisted his ankle (he had torn ligaments) in the AFC Championship game 2 weeks prior to the game against Drew Brees and the Saints. Even on one leg, he still managed to drag that son-of-a-bitch down for a sack in the 2nd quarter, forcing the Saints to attempt a field goal instead of continuing their drive. Even without my blue-shaded glasses, I think that he is a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lAFXcfyXWo o

I get it, we wanna blame Pags for everything. But does Grigson have no fault in this? Perhaps more?

Whoever decided not to fit his scheme to work around one of the greatest QB pressuring duos of all-time is at fault. Freeney proved he still had a lot of plays left in the tank, but saying, "nah he can't cover downfield, we don't need him" is absurd.

Yep, fuck Griggs too! While we are laying blame, lets lay some on Irsay too for hiring these two unproven fucks and keeping them way beyond their expiration date.

He had tackles scared to death of that spin move. Who was that Baltimore tackle he abused all the time?

Hall of Famer Jonathan Ogden. Also reminds me of the 2005 game against the Rams (the year Freeney should've won DPOY) where Orlando Pace blocked him 1 on 1 for most of the first half, then at the beginning of the 3rd quarter, he got a false start penalty, and the wheels came off and Freeney started dominating. When the false start happened, it felt like a palpable change in the game.

He didn't exactly abuse him all the time. Ogden got his wins. But no one else battled him like Freeney did.

absolutely not. pagano had a scheme that somehow couldn't use an elite pass rusher. |
