That's where I am as well. Don't mess around with trading down when you can add one of those two.

Daniel Jeremiah says there have been some whispers of the Colts moving up for Chubb.

There have been whispers about the Colts potentially moving up for Chubb. There's a chance he could fall to them at No. 6.

that quote seems contradictory to itself and also just dumb.

Yeah, I don't think it's real. Maybe CLE and DEN are putting it out there as noise to BUF, MIA, and ARI.

Polian is pretty much against drafting guards in Round One as a general rule and, as good as Nelson is, there are other promising OLs who should be on the board in Rounds Two and Three (and maybe beyond).

As much as I'm intrigued by Edmunds, I fear his max value will come at or near the end of his first contract, whereas Smith (assuming his shoulder's good to go) should contribute immediately, especially in Eberflus' schemes. So Chubb if he's there or Smith (or Edmunds) works for me.

And possibly an OL, RB and CB in Round Two (in no particular order). Or a "big" WR if he's the BPA when Ballard picks.

Agree with all this. One other thing to keep an eye on is whether or not they trade back into Rd1. Two scenarios I see:

1) Chubb at 6. Move back into Rd 1 to get a LB like LVE or Evans.
2) Smith at 6. Move back into Rd 1 to get an EDGE like Landry or Davenport.

Those two scenarios would give you two really strong building block pieces in the front seven.

Does not compute. We traded back to get more picks, moving up would take picks.

Apparently LVE has failed physicals with 7 teams already

This was from Tony Pauline today:

Quote:
* There continues to be misinformation floating around about Leighton Vander Esch with recent news the linebacker failed medical exams and was removed from draft boards. The information passed on to me from a general manager this morning is 27 teams gave Vander Esch a passing grade on his medicals, 5 teams flagged him while no team flunked him. Flagging means a team will move a player down 10 to 20 slots on a draft board due to a red flag, in this case Vander Esch’s neck. Flunking means the team has removed the player from their board. The information passed to me states no team flunked Vander Esch for medicals or any other reason.

* More important for the Boise State linebacker is the leaking of information from the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers. Both teams gave Vander Esch a passing grade on medicals. I feel reasonably certain he ends up with Dallas with the 18th pick.

That would be beyond stupid with options such as Edmund's and Smith being available
